Well thats it Energy kills any polk in my opinion but some people like Polk Audio. I'm not impress either with any of their products to my liking. All the Speakers you enumerated in your Window Shoping Thread sound better than Any Polk Audio Speaker I've auditionned. That includes the Monitor, TSi and RTis.

BTW How was your experience with Canton?
the Cantons were nice speakers, they definetly need to have a sub with them for music & HT. They seemed neutral and fairly well detailed. I think the Dali's were the hit when I was there tho.... nothing stood up to those..

so iwas looking around on vanns the other day and i clicked on the "your price" on the side of rc 70, and i just entered a price of $399.

2 days later this is what i get in the email:
Quote:
Thank you for the email,

We are considering the price that you have requested, but need a bit more info.
Have you seen it offered for this price elsewhere? Please provide a link or site info.
Where will the item be shipping?
Would you be interested in bundling the item with any other products?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,
So i think if we get enough of these submitted i think they will lower the price. And no was not gonna buy the RC 70, i was just messing around. But if we can lower the price on rc 50 to $300 which they had on sale for that much i just cant remember the site, I saw it on avs forum, I will definitely pick them up and i'm a lot of other people will too.

I got the exact same response from Vanns when I was shopping for my rear RC-Mini's in black. All the other finishes were discounted but not the black. I offered $125 and they emailed that first letter and after I responded they counter-offered with $150 each w/free shipping. So they atleast should take 33% off the actual price I would think.

Let us know what they counter-offer with.

there was a guy on here that got the RC-70s for $800, he also bought the RC-LCR and the RC-Rs they gave him the whole deal for $1500. I think it is user name jjmbxkb... you can see it on the first post where the energy owners are listed....

I advise anyone who is able to get a really good deal on RC towers to get them over c-series. For me, the cheapest I could have ever got RC50s at the time of purchase for was about triple what I paid for my c-500s. I have heard both and despite what some people may say, RC's do not produce triple the "sound quality" of c-500s. Not even double by far imo. Soundstage, imaging and overall tone are actually very similar, the RCs having cleaner highs and superior cosmetics. But if you can get them for a good price they are indeed better speakers and they could offer an even better price to performance ratio than c-series. (Although I would prefer c-series floor standers over RC minis.)

Towers really are generally more desirable because of their larger size (greater internal volume) and cabinet shape (with narrow baffles and deeper in depth) which yields greater dynamic range, better imaging, more clarity, and a wider soundstage (for L/R fronts). I know this to be true because I used to have a pair of C-200s as L/R fronts before I got the C-300s. The C-300s being a tower design, vastly outperformed the C-200s as I stated earlier. They have identical drivers and the same number of drivers yet not any where near identical performance. The C-200s did fairly well as side L/R surrounds though until I bought some the C-R100s bipoles to replace them.

In a larger room, say 25' x 20' or 30' x 25', I would most definitely agree that a pair of C-500s would earn their keep.
Which is why I stated once before that bookselfs are only "better" than towers for surrounds if you plan to wall mount them. Wall mounted bipoles or dipoles being optimal for most people. And I agree with the rest, although my listening room is only 14X15 and I use c-500s as fronts and c-300s for surrounds. I find my c-300s to make better surrounds than the c-200s on stands. My setup IS probably overkill for my room size. My tv is just right I think, 46 inch screen for a max of a 92 inch distance, screen to eyeballs.

That's an awesome setup. Your C-500s are probably always operating along the linear portion of the power curve in small room like that thus yielding lower distortion and greater clarity. Nothing wrong with that.

For bigA and I those prices arn't as good as they seem though after conversion to CAD, shipping etc.

I don't know if the sale is on everywhere but here in Alberta FS, the CF-30s are going for 399 per pair right now. It's not listed on the FS site(they have them listed for 349 EACH) but it's on flyers I have. It's a fair price for people who can walk into a FS and grab it and not have to pay shipping. It might be an Alberta only sale though.

Here, the sale starts on the 11th and goes to the 13th. It's part of the "Huge Alberta sale".

But Alberta is always a "sale" since we pay half the taxes of pretty much the rest of the country

For example, BigA, you would have to pay almost 13% tax if you purchased those speakers right? Here in Alberta, I would pay only 5% tax.

Huh knew that ya I know pisses me off to pay 12.88% total while you guys are paying 5% GST only but we have a bunch of morons here running the show and we are still under a deficit. Alberta has not had a deficit in a long time and your Provincial tax has been eliminated back in 2000 with Taxpayer Protection Act with Ralph Klein running the business in Alberta. You lucky Bastards have the petroleum!!!!!!

Ok but there was a sale if not last week, 2 weeks ago here cf-30 at 199$ each.

Who paid 200$ for a pair of C-500? lol

Yeah, that deal was ridiculous. Even when they were clearing c-500s out it was hard to find floor models for that cheap. You are the deals man!

148.97 was the liquidation and most stores were trying to give their Service plan for 9 years for free over the 5 years manfacturer warranty on the floor model.

Just a little talk with the store Manager paid off and I wont be ashame to do the same thing again for a receiver or TV or another Subwoofer. I know Future much rather getting rid of their stuff then beeing stuck with it.

BTW the V8 sold in liquidation floor model for 199$ I wonder how much you paid yours?

I paid 299 for my v8, but that was new not a floor model and it was about a year and a half ago.

Paid $400 after everything for the v10. No tax. That was new as well but a different sort of deal.
