I wish the movie was all about the soldiers, they were so interesting.

Enjoyed it. It was a very good film, and very funny.

I quite like IM3 as well, but it still lands somewhere in the bottom five for me. Well, that's what happens when you like every single MCU release.

The Avengers - 4.5/5
Iron Man - 4.5/5
Guardians of the Galaxy - 4/5
Captain America: The First Avenger - 4/5
The Incredible Hulk - 4/5
Iron Man 3 - 3.5/5
Thor - 3.5/5
Iron Man 2 - 3.5/5
Thor: The Dark World - 3.5/5

while i won't say it was the biggest letdown, i will say that i'm surprised that they didn't show the nova corps as the super powered entity they actually are. but, that would potentialy have taken light away from the Guardians.

i kinda do understand your understand your unhappiness, but, it was still an incredible movie.

Ronan's army is made up of Sakaarsans, filling in for the Badoon from the comics because Fox apparently has the film rights to them.

Always loved Ronan in comics, but somehow he was cast wrong. Too small and non threatening.

Well, yeah, but I mean how he looked. I know he is handsome(no homo) in the Hobbit, but eh... as Ronan.

Anyway, anyone knows how GotG is doing in the boxoffice?

Really after the first 5 the movies become pretty average.

That's cool that they used them.

But what's getting concerning in these movies is that these alien goon armies (Avengers, Thor, Thor Dark World, Guardians) are such awful soldiers standing around like target practice. It would be nice for a change if these alien goon armies are depicted as more efficient team-working soldiers as the way the US military is depicted in films (Zero Dark Thirty, Transformers 3, etc). I understand that there is a more powerful villain or villain sidekick that somewhat challenges the heroes but it would be nice for a change if the villain goon armies were somewhat decent soldiers that can at least try.

I fear the same thing happening in Age of Ultron where the Ultron bots are just going to be a shmorgishborg of generic cgi mayhem.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy ruled the box office this weekend with a fantastic $94 million. That's easily the biggest debut ever for an August release; the previous record holder, The Bourne Ultimatum, opened to $69.3 million in 2007.

Wow Walt, I can't believe how high you ranked Iron Man 3. That movie was awful IMO.

1. Iron Man
2. Avengers
3A. GOTG
3B. Winter Soldier
5. Iron Man 3

The worst MCU movie to me is Ed Norton's Hulk, still enjoyable in a summer movie way. Can't decide which I liked more between GOTG and WS, hence their standings.

Thanks for posting this. I came here to see what the box office take ending up being for this weekend. $94 million far surpasses what many thought it would do. It will be interesting to see what the numbers will be next weekend after going up against TMNT. If GOTG beats TMNT then it will be a sure sign that this movie is a hit (it already is with me.)
