There shouldn't even be the need to debunk in a way

People -really- think that stuff like filming locations, duration of filming, contract length, remuneration, freedom of direction, etc. won't be -SUPER- tight with lawyers out the wazoo for every single line on a high profile series like that, before they even hint at who the Director will be?

IF anything is certain about Ep VII, it's that JJA knew perfectly well what he was getting himself in before he signed, and if he didn't, well, I have a feeling that he can't afford to have regrets (yeah, I 'm talking both PR wise, but also, and mostly, $ wise).

I don't get it either. Back in the 80s, we had nothing. Now, there's going to be 9 movies and people still are whining.

They've become the very thing they swore to destroy, Sith Lords that will stop at nothing until everything else is destroyed and everyone is as bitter as they are. LOL that's probably a bit much but it's really struck me lately how a lot of SW fans seem like bitter people that are impossible to please. I will hold off on getting excited for the sequel to one of the worst SW films till concrete details and casting news come to light.

Yeah, back in the day we had those terrible Droids and Ewoks cartoons. I'd take a movie over that crap.

Jedi was awesome when I was a kid and I actually loved all of the Star Wars films for a long time. It was only sometime around...2007 or 2008 I think that I started noticing the flaws in all of the films. Now I don't like them as much as I used to, probably why I'm not that excited for the new film or that show about bounty hunters.

Jedi is fun for the first hour or so, but when they get to Endor it becomes a dark kiddie movie. Thankfully, the Emperor shows up to save it.

Ryan Gosling is one of the best actors of this generation and deserves much more recognition from credible sources other than middle-aged women commenting on his attractiveness.

In your opinion, yes.
While I don't think he's a bad actor, by any stretch, I wouldn't call him "one of the best". IMO, he has the same expression in every role.
He and Kristen Stewart would make an interesting couple.

Daniel Day Lewis would disagree.

Ah, DDL, the usual choice for pretentious cinefiles. I think he's a master of the craft, but he has no presence, no defining characteristics, and is barely good looking. Hell, my copy of Lincoln is gathering dust partly because of him and the stale cast.

If they only cast Liam Neeson instead.

Why is that a criteria?

Both are good actors, when given the right material. If J.J. wants them, it's for a reason. I trust him.

Efron has become a decent actor lately and Gosling is the man.

Have we? Special effects have gotten better but story, character development and dialog are probably far worse. If you go back to the prequels, they were terrible in many ways, especially some of the acting and dialog. The story was very convoluted and you have to wonder what Demo they were going after because the same story that featured Jar Jar Binks acting like a fool also had a very complex plot around trade federations and "emergency powers" and politics that no kid who liked Jar Jar could possibly understand.

But having said that, at least it was a complex story. Too many of today's movies are simply action sequence, explosions, action sequence, explosions and dialog like, "let's get 'em" and "ooof". Compared to those, the prequels are brilliant.

The problem today is that the special effects and set pieces are so complex, directors spend far too little time on plot and character development. What I have to wonder now is whether Disney will cut the budget for the new film considering they had to write down both "John Carter" and "The Lone Ranger". But if they did cut the budget, it could wind up actually making for a better film, by telling a more intimate story. Think about Star Trek (aside from the two recent reboot films.) The TV show (TNG and beyond) was far superior to any of the movies because it told better stories and it wasn't concerned with big explosions.
