The RC-30 should have a pretty good timber match vs the C-100 as I said but truly the LCR is the best match and worth the upgrade, also give superior off axis performance vs the C-100, sound should be even mor uniform moving yourself from one side to another you will notice the LCR is more consistant.
Thanks BigAl. I'll take a look at that link. Yeah, I will most likely get the LCR. I said it a thousand times already.

Though the C-C100 is holding it's ground.

Those RC-30's look real good there MaCruz!
Thanks Miker, good luck with the job you're trying to get so you can get the RC brand.

Thanks MaCruz. I've been using an Infinity Center with my RC-10's. It actually sounds pretty good together, but I'm sure once I get the LCR the improvement will be quite evident.

Don't be a fool, it's very good and it does but once you realize how good the RC-30 sound after break in period you will want to have matching center for sure. I recommend it seriously specially for the front sound stage to match, you do not need to upgrade surrounds any time soon the C-series are great surrounds.

Thank you Olivier. A request was put in to get me hired on but it's not set in stone yet. If it doesn't work out I'm all set to go to school to be a Phlebotomy Tech. I took the entrance exam and did the paperwork already just in case the job doesn't come through.

Oh I didn't know you were using a different brand as your center. Glad it's working out for you at the moment.

I watched the 1st episode of the Pacific again, and the surrounds (C-200) are much better than the C-100's. The C-100 works very well though as back surrounds.

Yeah I was afraid of that, but I'll let you guys know once I upgrade to the LCR!

i agree with bigAl, once the "30's have opened up the tweeter will be quite different to the c-100. i dont know how fussy you are but if it were me i would upgrade to the lcr when u can. also availability of the lcr will soon diminish as stock levels deplete. then you would have to buy the veritas to try to match the '30s but way more $$

Yeah I'm trying to push the Blu-ray Madden League to finish ASAP so I can clear my PP account so I don't have to use their funds to pay for the center. Hopefully within 2 weeks I'll be buying the LCR.

I'm watching that item closely. 22 of them sold, and they have over 10 left in stock.

Thanks Steve, I'm glad your still hanging out in the Energy thread helping us new and prospective Energy owners. Yes, I'm enjoying my RC-10's very much. I'm kind of a WWII history buff and like war movies, so over the Christmas holidays while the prices were down I FINALLY picked up WWII in HD and Band of Brothers, having only seen bits and pieces of it on tv, and I was very impressed with the sound in BOB. Gave my RC's a workout for sure. Now I'm itching to get my hands on Pacific.

Miker,

The Pacific is pure reference quality during the battle scenes. Great series overall just like BoB.

Yes, that's what I hear. One of these days I'll get my hands on it during a sale. I don't even have HD sound yet as my old Onkyo (the beast that it is) still only has RC inputs. It does have pre-outs in case I desire to hook up external amps, but I sure wish I had true HD sound capabilities.
It still sounds incredible though!

The audio is also great in Saving Private Ryan. Another one of my favorites.

Hello Friends,

After auditioning a couple of floorstanders, I have shorlisted Energy RC50/70 and need some advise on AV Receiver.

I have shortlisted Pionner VSX-920K, Marantz SR5005 and Denon 1911. Usage is 60% Music and 40% Movies. Unfortunately could only audition Pioneer at the dealers place. Pioneer with RC's sounded very detailed and very nice but they sounded very warm for classical songs. I am looking for a slightly brighter AVR (not too bright). Dealer suggested Pionner / Marantz as best match with Energy speakers.

Can anyone help me in giving their inputs and personal experience.

Thanks in advance.

Yes Olivier, I plan on fixing that maybe in a couple of years. If I get this job soon, hopefully by next week, I will purchase the RC-LCR a little later this year, then in a couple of years upgrade my receiver. Like darshanjoshi in the post above, I'm sure I will be enlisting you guys for help in that situation.

Default Great price on CB-5's

For those who are interested. Newegg.com is selling the CB-5 pair for 79.99 + free UPS ground shipping. The code to get this price is EMCKJHC74, it expires 2/2/2011 and you need to have an account on newegg.com.

Well the Marantz would be more in-line with the Pioneer Elite 32, not the 920, you could look at the 1120 as a possible match, its similar to the Elite 32.

For a brighter sound the Elite would be the one, for something more musical Id suggest the Onkyo 708/Integra 40.2 or the Marantz.

I agree On the musical part, Brighter sound is somewhat tiring at some point specially at loud levels but true that the RC are very laid back also, I still like to pair Energy to a laid back to Neutral kind of sound receiver cause when I listen to music it doe not fatigue the ear what so ever sort of like typical British sounding gear and Speakers.

I will add that Elite has slightly change their sound to something more natural lately so the Entry Level VSX Elite would not be to shabby, One thing I find lacking with Pioneer is the flexibility with bass management.

I think Integra is great for music Marantz too but I felt Integra even more musical, One thing tho is i did not hear the same speakers with those receivers, The Marantz was running some Entry level Missions M33i and the Integra Some Totem Sttaf so it's easy to say Integra was better but honestly Marantz is great. If you really have to choose between the 3, I would take Marantz.
