Don't feel like A dope ryan . Both of my amps are silent when they are on , You had an IC issue I bet . something to close to something else . I learned about hum A long time ago with one of my subs & its RCA cable .

I figued out its my Monoprice RG59 Subwoofer cable thats doing it now. I got some more RG6 coming monday, so hopefully that will kill this buzz completely.

2 hours of cable management to get it figured out. These amplifiers can really amplify a nasty buzz

I've never had any audible buzz from the speakers, but the transformers always make a slight noise when you put your ear close to the amps. I just bought a second Buttkicker BKA-1000 (for a Tuba HT I'm going to build) and its transformer buzzes slightly, the same as the first Buttkicker amp. I think transformers inherently make a little noise, but I only notice it because I sit nearfield to them.

Its strange that when i plug my amp into another outlet on a different circuit with nothing plugged into it, it has a buzz. Now with better wire management, and the amp plugged in there is no buzz at all, not even from the amp anymore, but as soon as my rg59 cable gets close to any other cable, the buzz comes back.

I found out tonight that the lamp in the living room with a dimmer mode makes my speakers and amp buzz, after many pissed off hours i finally determined the light in my living room when dimmed makes my amp buzz

Yep, dimmers do cause unwanted noise. When I had the hum with my guitar rig I was asked if my room had a dimmer, if it did to remove it and it should fix some, if not all, of the hum problem. When I did I had at least 50% less noise.

Good to hear that you tracked down the source of your problem. Finding where that issue is coming from is one of the biggest battles with a hum in a system.

Actually, I listened to the amps again and they are pretty quiet. I think the little hum I do hear is from the Buttkicker amps and the Panamax line conditioner.

glad you resolved your problem, though, i'm confused. at times in your posting you said you moved the amp around to different receptacles in your house with no cables plugged into it and you still had the buzzing. then you said you had buzzing coming from your speakers as well which means then you had it connected to speakers. now you say you think (know) it's the RG-6 cable and the dimmer on your lamp (which is in the same room as your gear) WoW, tie a rope around your waist throw it in and pull Carol Ann out but don't go into the light!!!!

sounds like you need a whole house electro-magnetic exorcsism!

I believe he had to sources causing the buzzing. One was the dimmer and the other his cables. Perhaps the buzzing was stronger when near the cables than when it was plugged into the other receptacle.

Well, Everytime i had the buzzing going on, i had the lamp on in my living room, with the lamp being in dimmer mode. I didnt think that a light could cause a buzzing. So even when i tried every outlet in my house, the Lamp in the living room was on that night. When i did all the wire management, I had the lamp in full mode not the dimmer mode. So thinking that wire management fixed the problem, I put the lamp back to dimmer mode when i was done. After dinner, I turned on the light and went back over to make sure everything was the way i wanted it to be, And the Damn buzz was back, so after another hour of moving the cables around to see if i could get rid of the buzz, a thought came into my mind about the lamp, because i think i read on one of Big Daddy's threads awhile ago that dimmer switches can cause a buzzing. I turned off the lamp and the buzzing disappeared.

Quick question, what was it about the SR6003 that made you go with it over say the SR6004 or even the SR5004?

I had been waiting on the UMC-1 and it seems to me that it's gonna take awhile for it to be worked out and I'm tired of waiting to upgrade from my 8 year old Yamaha AVR.

I have been quite perplexed by the offerings from all the brands, very confused to say the least. I have been steered back to Marantz by many for the SQ alone.

Even the guy at BestBuy said Marantz is better than what he had in his Magnolia room. I have been told by two different high end dealers that Marantz SQ is what sets them apart from the Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer etc...

Do a search on Marantz 5004/6004 "pop of death". I exchanged a couple of PMs with Mike and I'm sure that's one of the reasons he took the 6003 route. Also, from what I've read the issue is mostly related to DVRs.

That said, I decided to try a SR5004 out yesterday since I'm losing faith that some of the UMC bugs I've reported will be resolved any time soon, if at all, and I really don't want to find out they won't be fixed after the 30-day firmware release is up, which is closing in. Anyway, this is also for a 2nd setup that does not have a DVR, and so far soo good. Everything I've read on Marantz musical AQ is there, both with the internal amps and using the 5004 as a pre-pro with my LPA-1. I'm impressed.

Last summer I was thinking of getting an XPA-5 to go with my XPA-3 and YAMAHA.. I decided to try out a Marantz SR8002 instead. Was the right choice for sure!! Saved a bit of $$.. didn't have to add on to my rack.. and the sound quality is just what everyone said it would be. I love my Marantz!!
