It will then be months of waiting and hoping for a decent single disc version to come out until I eventually have a moment of desperation where I lose my mind from not owning the Blu-ray and I buy some overpriced copy on eBay.

Man, I can't wait!
You need to live on this thread like the rest of us

All jokes aside, I don't think this will be a feeding frenzy once the pre-order comes up. After nearly 5 years in the making and LOTS of work to bring this to fruition there's just no way Synapse will only have a couple of thousand copies on hand. Yes, this release will be extremely popular and I suspect a lot of overseas folks will want in on this but it still won't be a bloodbath. It might help to visit this forum a little more frequently for updates if you're still worried about it.

But, the real question... will this film be in Italian with subs?

Because if I have learned one thing in my time here (mostly from the complainers in the Code Red thread) its that all Italian films MUST be in Italian with English subs, regardless whether that was the intended language or not. No dubs allowed!

It's all ready been confirmed to have Mandarin audio and Canadian subs. Nothing else.

I worked on the Anchor Bay release (the reprinted Lobby Cards were mine, and the interview with Jessica Harper). It about time this film was touched and restored. I'm really looking forward to its release. Let the company have all the time they need to release a version they can be proud of.

I guess Christian was right about there being a 4K UHD after all.

So all being well we should actually be able to buy Suspiria on disc in a version visually superior to the Synapse one before the Synapse one is actually available to buy.

Wow - the UHD would need to be really bad for it to be lower quality than a Bluray.
So presumably the UHD will be based on the same master as the Italian Bluray which I think the majority have been raving on about.

well if the Synapse release does end up being better then Italian disc then I dont see how extra resolution will make the Italian any better.

I sat around the house stunned most of that morning, then around 11 or so I thought "I'm going to the mall to pick up my Suspiria pre-order from Suncoast because what else do I have to do today at this point?" They were locking up as I got there LOL.

I was working at San Goody at the time and we closed down by noon that day. It was the release day for Jay Z's the Blueprint album after it was moved up I think a week. But I mainly recall listening to Tori Amo's cover album Strange Little Girls at the time because I had gotten a free copy from the Warner rep who would come into the store and give out free music. So hearing that album the day of and after 9/11 seemed dark and fitting esp her cover of Raining Blood.

As for Suspiria I can't wait for the Synapse BLU. I'd imagine that they have already picked out their packaging and I wouldn't be surprised if they are ahead of schedule so that they can drop the release surprisingly thatbis maybe even have them ready to ship very close to when they announce preorders.

Wishful thinking maybe but you never know.

Ohhh the days of Suncoast. I picked up many hard to find items there at of course higher prices but I miss the days of being able to go find harder to find titles and be able to find them at Suncoast. I still recall buying the first Rhino edition of Jem and the Holgrams there and it was MINT and still looks mint to this day

Just being able to go into a store and browse dvd's was always a pleasure. Now it's Target with their mediocre selection, WalMart with their bad selection, and Best Buy with their abysmal selection. Bah.

Physical media is alive and well - it's just becoming harder to find anything but the latest blockbusters on store shelves. Barnes & Noble is the only large chain left where you can find just about anything but their prices are ridiculously high. It's just as well since shopping at brick and mortars has become a big hassle.

My local Best Buy now carries a fairly decent selection of Scream Factory, Shout Select, and Vestron releases. I'd actually argue that the current selection of titles is better than the last 2-3 years so in a way physical media selection has actually improved in my area. It's certainly still a shadow of it's former self but I'd actually argue things are improving.

I've spotted a couple of Vestrons at BB but at $29.99 a pop I don't think I'll ever grab one on the spot. It's a start, though. Have any Arrow titles popped up at BB? I know Walmart has carried at least one (Pray For Death).

Physical media in stores seems to be at a better place than it was two-three years ago.

Not at all close to the DVD heyday where you could find Synapse, Code Red and Blue Underground releases at Best Buy with ease, but we're slowly getting back there.
