As of now it's still currently available at Criterion Collection at regular price.

Barnes and Noble is sold out online and I noticed only a few stores in my area have it in stock. They may just be out of stock because of their recent Criterion sale.

"Random person taking advantage of OOP status and asking a crazy high price" does not remotely mean that the title is worth that much. This happens for every OOP title and is always stupid.

I ended up just holding on to it as the stories are halfway decent and not worth giving away IMO.

I sold all four of mine when the Nameless Media Season 1 & 2 Blu-ray set was announced (which is superior in every way).

For many out of print titles, there just isn't any real demand once a disc starts commanding serious money on the used market. That leads to distorted fixed pricing by greedy resellers looking for a big profit.

Auctions are a much better gauge of an item's value when the supply is limited and demand still exists.

It’s not OOP...same thing is happening to other Criterion titles.

I didn't think it was. Retailers are just low on stock.

I was wondering about this movie if it was out of print. I didn’t know if I should be kicking myself for not buying it.

I'm sorry if it came off like I was reporting something OOP too early. I just hadn't seen a title universally go out of stock and also spike in price seemingly so suddenly, or know of other Criterion movies currently acting the same. I intended my post as more of a "what's going on with this?" question than an outright claim.

I do wonder what's up with it. Most or all retailer sites I've looked at have it out of stock, and maybe Criterion's store would be one of the last to sell out? But some of you know a lot more about these behaviors than I do.

It’s all good sir . Information and discussion like the one above is what this forum is all about.

Argh, for a minute there I thought you were mentioning that Anchor Bay later put out a Season 2 Blu set in the US that I missed, but you were obviously referring to the Volume 2 disc from the four Season 1 releases.

As far as Season 2, I know there was the Nameless Region B Blu release of the entire series, but I think I'll just stick with the US DVD's for now, as I also kept the Season 1 DVD's for all the extras dropped off the US Blu versions.

I'm assuming all four of the US Blu's are OOP, it's just that there weren't as many out there on Volume 2. I recall Fry's blowing out all 4 of them several years ago for about $1.99 a piece, including #2. They had tons of them, so it seemed like it was Anchor Bay clearing out their entire stock at the time.

Thought that seller was a loony... I once saw a used copy of the Olive BD of Ticks (long OOP due to Paramount/Republic's rights having expired) on Amazon going for $17,506 from a games store seller in Maryland.

Dat's crazy bro!! Still crazy that the average price for the Ticks BD is $70-200 and with no reissue in sight (and I'm not going through torrents, hate dealing with BS and badly compressed YIFYs).

The great Arrow UK set of The Human Condition is OOP...for those that missed it, maybe Criterion will release it in the future. Tatsuya Nakadai .

It was reissued in a more affordable set that only includes blu-rays, dropping the DVDs from the earlier edition: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-H...lu-ray/202653/

Hahah.$499!? For...that?

Really, it looks like he's the only one selling a blu-ray of the film. So I guess he's hoping someone is desperate.

I don't blame a guy trying to get top dollar, but this price is crazy as the last sale went for less than $150. If he asked "$175 or best offer", sure it would be greedy, but I wouldn't blame him. At least then he's just trying to get the last market value. Has anyone in the history of blu-rays actually paid $499 for a used blu-ray of a single film?

Currently going for $139.75!
I bought this still sealed at a pawn shop a couple years ago. The problem is the bluray freezes part way through. The disc is in perfect condition. It seems like some kind of defect. It freezes at the same part in every bluray player I try. Has anyone ever experienced this?

When I watch it I pop in the DVD and play from where the bluray freezes.

I saw this at a thrift shop for $3 yesterday, but didn't know what it was. I should have bought it. I didn't recognize Alan Tudyk. Hopefully it's there next time I shop at that store.
