I hate the 2016 movie because it had absolutely zero respect or reverence for the Ghostbusters and it was a poorly shot, ridiculously unfunny mess.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife goes too far in the other direction where the characters have reverence for minute details we as fans loved about the original, even if it makes no sense in context. Yet another example of a "soft reboot" where it's essentially the same movie beat for beat (Force Awakens, Jurassic World et al) with a few changes to make it seem more 'new' than it really is. It's all too familiar and predictable. I'll just stick to Ghostbusters (1984) thanks very much.

I don't see a box office estimate for this weekend. So I'm going to predict here that the movie will make $50m in its opening weekend. It'll do higher than the box office tracking, which feels lower than it should be.

I think it will gross $300m-$350m worldwide.

Ugghhh, another "kiddie" movie copying the "stranger things" feel...

Cool that they brought back some elements from the original movies but it almost feels like they are trying way too hard.

Sorry but this looks like crap. Ill watch it when it gets to redbox..

When a lot of people have the same complaint it actually makes it a more-valid complaint, not a less-valid complaint. Don’t know if you’re aware.

More like a**hole. I really wish the ignore function just completely removed them instead of collapsing the posts.

Estimates are 28-35 million. If I remember correctly the budget is around 60 million. Low expectations springs to mind.

Not surprised, the original was a sharp, witty well written sci-fi comedy with top actors. It’s never going to be topped. Having said that, seeing this next week, hopefully a decent time filler.

He was on the Late Show the other night.

It seemed quite cruel to trot him out to hype up a nostalgia movie, when it looked like what he was feeling most was the melancholy and regret over the dissolution of his relationship with Harold Ramis, and the reconciliation he let come sadly far too late. Murray couldn't give a rat's ass about Ghostbusters and he shouldn't have to.

It reminded me of when Harrison Ford was on Fallon, he was off-handedly asked about Peter Mayhew (who had recently passed), and Ford actually got quite somber and emotional, and Fallon didn't really know how to handle it.

That’s the thing, it’s not crap. The audience loved it. In the showing I was in today they were laughing, crying, cheering etc. I could hear people saying how brilliant it was. I thought it was fantastic. They did a fantastic job on this.Very emotional. Loved it.

No, but I think you'll appreciate certain things in the film more if you do happen to watch them (the first one at least).

If you haven't already, you may be better off not watching them beforehand. The 1984 original was a crackerjack brisk comedy that happened to have special effects.

This is more of a mellow coming-of-age story with less time for the original cast. Feels very different.
