A hero in the making, this guy. I also sent an email to them just to give the issue additional traffic. I don't mind the issue as I prefer the US cut but if I were a completionist it would bother me. Regardless, I think Arrow did a great job on this.

So is it only the mono track (by Chace Audio) on the 2014 US BD that lacks the laughter or the 5.1 mix as well?
Read a few things about the mono mix as presented on that disc and some users back then observed that the dub for the grotto scene was adjusted for that release as well. Lines moved around, sync improved. So maybe while working on improving the dub for the extended scenes, the laughter went missing. Just a theory.

The 5.1 track on that reissue BD has the group laughter but not the Chace mono track.

I'm surprised nobody picked up on it before.

Chace Audio by Deluxe restored the English mono track and revised the audio for the extended scenes (along with removing the modern sound effects). The resto work also included revising the Grotto scene so that the sync was better and improving Wallace's voice.

Well I'm a çompletionist and it doesn't bother me! Why?, cause I'm also a REALIST... You're never going to get a perfect release, particularly one as complex as this. I wish people would see this remarkable release for what it is and stop being so pedantic! Why bother Arrow with this trivia... for god sake, what do you want out of this? A replacement disc program? Do you have any idea of the cost of running those? not to mention the cost of redoing the actual discs... No wonder why so many boutique and niche blu ray businesses shut down or go broke. Do you want to lose Arrow too?! Please just enjoy this incredible release and put the emails away!

It doesn't bother me either, but I don't see why we should NOT let Arrow know if there's been an error with the release.

They will probably deem this issue to small to fix and that will be that - no skin off anyone's knees. If anything it's a good thing to have this on record for future releases.

We all put good money in Arrows pocket and we should expect the very best. I am enjoying this release and will continue to do that either way.

Even if they did a silent fix for the standard edition I'd be happy with that, but I doubt anything will be done and I'm fine with that too as my experience has not been ruined because of one single missing sound effect in a three hour film. Someone made a mistake well over a decade ago and it's been grandfathered into every official release of those mono audio materials ever since.

It doesn't bother me either really, but at the same time it is pretty annoying to know that this nearly definitive release still has issues. This is one of those films which will never be right I guess.

My guess is we will never see a truly definitive version of TGTBTU, but the Arrow release is certainly close enough, and unless something miraculous happens, this is probably it.

I didn't even notice the missing laughter on my first viewing, but I wasn't really looking for defects at all. I was focusing on the viewing experience and that was top notch to me.

The Arrow release is definitive enough for me. I love the color timing, the audio sounds great too, even the 5.1 sounds very good. As I prefer the US theatrical cut, the missing audio cue doesn't even affect me.

Got my copy of TGTBATU today and unfortunately it is a little damaged. I'm a little surprised that Orbit would send out damaged copies as they usually pull them and sell them as such. Luckily, I got another copy from Grindhouse, and it is pristine.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my extra slightly damaged copy.

Mine was meant to be today, but it's now changed to "order received". I ordered both Blu-ray and 4K Limited Editions (did the same with the previous films) and the blu-ray arrived yesterday.
