Nope, just confirmed at AVS:

Damnit

At least it's 24-bit though

I haven't watched The Lord of the Rings Trilogy movies in my life, so I thought it would be a REAL treat to catch this great movies (that everyone keeps on telling me they are) on High Definition.

Check the three newest shots he's posted from Return of the King, they look better The third shot in particular has good detail.

Those screenshots on AVS have me concerned. It is hard to believe that New Line and Warner would have dropped the ball on this one. I am buying them anyway, but I'm hoping that it looks better than those shots.

I might get this set soon, just so I can take advantage of the Steelbook deal at BB. It would be my first Steelbook and I believe LotR would be worthy of being the first. The price is a bit high and I'm still debating whether or not I should even purchase this set, seeing that I have the standard and extended DVDs. April is coming up quick.

Well this latest bit of info is making my decision on whether to skip these and wait for the EEs quite a bit easier.

And I am sure that Bill Hunt will comment on this pretty soon so I will have to keep an eye on his site and see what he has to say about this.

I'm not saying they'll look any better. I'm just saying that this set is something that I'm easily skipping.

I'm not gonna buy into all the hype over this release.....no need... i'm a fan of the books and lore and the films just add to overall enjoyment of the franchise....so when the set arrives i'll be satisfied....

I think it sucks. I was hoping/wanting each movie to have its own case like most of the other trilogy sets.

From AVS.
That's one movie out of three. The most recent one.

Wasn't all of the movies shot back to back?
meaning the quality of each movie should be the same?

Just because they were shot together does not mean that post production did not advance during the extra years to put the last 2 films out.

They were filmed back to back, but post production for each was done in the year before their respective theatrical release. ROTK was done with a full 2K DI like new movies, Fellowship was partially DI like (some) older movies.
