He'll look better in the movie, they said. They'll fix it in post, they said.

They added some green lights. That saved it.

What's to say they won't give him a mask and more comics-faithful suit in an eventual sequel? Provided they don't kill him off of course.
I don't care, he looks just fine to me.

What's wrong with you? What does it matter if he looks stupid in the movie that comes out in 3 weeks?

What's important is that he looks good in a possible sequel that may come out in two years--providing a lot of folks don't think this movie looks stupid and a sequel never happens.

Oh....yeah.

I saw the international trailer. That one is much better than the U.S. trailer.

Thing's voice is horrible, though. They kept Jamie Bell's voice? Why? Where's the rocky, gravely voice? It doesn't fit him and it takes me out of it. I won't see a fully realized character, because I'll be distracted at the voice coming out of this giant rock man. If it took me out of the trailer, it will take me out of the movie.

We've traveled back in time to 2011 when everyone said Green Lantern 2 would fix all the problems everyone had with Green Lantern.

What's wrong with that Green Lantern 2 was a massive hit and currently sits at 97% at RT, besides making $956 million worldwide in 2013.

It still pales in comparison to The Lone Ranger 2 and John Carter 2. But you're right, Green Lantern 2 made me glad I went to see it in the theater even though I left the theater for the first movie completely disappointed. But I knew the sequel would be a massive success as soon as WB said "we'll fix it in the sequel" instead of fixing it in the first one!

But be warned of spoilers, because it gives the entire movie away. Not that there are any twists (it sounds like a pretty standard story), but so as to not ruin it for anyone:

At 1:41 in the trailer, you see the big hole being formed and cars getting sucked into the sky. At 1:47, you see the giant hole. This trailer tells us that all that stuff with Elder and the government is true. At 2:21, you see what looks like "Doom" knocking Reed against a wall in the Baxter Building, probably when Doom
[Show spoiler]goes back there to get to the Quantum Gate
.
Sounds cool to me. Should lead to a lot of sweet Fantastic Four action. I like how it's not a typical superhero flick, like it's a really interesting harder Science Fiction take on the characters, leads to a bit more weight to them than "Hey, they get powers, they hang around an apartment while science stuff is explained and shenanigans".

I was mostly just thinking that there might be a plan for future installments, but yeah, it is a kind of stupid excuse from my part. Then again, I'm also not hellbent on keeping these films cut-and-pasted from the comics so... carry on with the bashing.

I've reiterated to the point of exhaustion that I don't want a copy and paste from the comics. If you're going to deviate from the comics, cool, but what you give us should be better than the comics... not worse. Otherwise, you have people saying, "they already had a cool version, why didn't they just use that?"

And comics aside, again, he just looks stupid.

I think the film's version is way more intimidating than the frankly kinda silly one from the comics, so in my mind at least, it IS an improvement. Guess we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on that aspect.

I think this

and this

is more intimidating and powerful than this version's skinny Glo Worm Doctor Domashev wrapped in gauze, but you're right, we can agree to disagree.

Truthfully if I wasn't to the point of I will wait til its on netflix with this film I would be willing to give benefit of doubt that maybe the Doom we have seen is Doom without his Armor. So maybe they are the same Doom (relatively speaking) just one has not yet donned the outer armor suit yet.

But even with that being said there are still too many little issues adding up to a wait til its "free" before I see it vibe.

He story arc was always perfect.

He wanted to contact his mother on the other side (so arrogant he thought he could conquer death)

Reed tells him his machine is flawed

In his arrogance he tests machine immediately--scarring his face
He blames Reed for his disfigurement

He goes on a quest to learn mystic secrets and the monks who find him dying of exposure build him a suit of armor and the mask further burns his already scarred face (in one version his face was only slightly scarred but in his arrogance he couldn't show the world his face unless it was "perfect"

He combines his mystic teachings with his genius in science and robotics and then conquers his homeland and then seeks revenge on Reed--now also changed.

Now he's an ambitious scientist who gets mutated in the same accident that transforms the FF and "sees wonders" in the negative zone that make him want to take over the world.

That's a big upgrade?

But hey if you're making the movie for non fans who don't care--then who cares?

A comic adaption should please the established fans and bring along the general audience as well. The diehards being your free advertising for the franchise.

But why not annoy and disappoint your hard core fans in order to make changes that might appeal to general fans?

We'll know in 27 days whether that strategy worked.

Yeah, he can be really intimidating and scary. Imagine him draped across a throne in Latveria, partially shadowed in darkness, his subjects before him on their knees. Too scared to speak to him or look him in the eye. The powerful dictator ruler of Latveria is what a lot of people want to see, but Fox keeps going with this "Victor is colleagues with the four before they all get their powers together" angle. It's just remaking the 2005 film, where Doom also sucked.

So it's not so much about literally copying the comics. I think what sets a lot of people off is that Fox is in control of this fantastic, dramatic, interesting character - "the" Marvel villain - and instead of giving them that Doctor Doom, they keep regurgitating this Doctor Doom who is colleagues with the Fantastic Four, they get powers together, and Doom ends up with some kind of electricity powers and/or metal skin.

Doing it the first time around, bad, but okay. Doing it the second time around? Cheap, lazy, and unforgivable.

I thought that that basically was the storyline of the Ultimates version, which this one is mostly inspired by, but I might be wrong...

Aaaaanyway. I REALLY like those glowing green eyes surrounded by darkness in the film. In a way I get a kind of Darth Maul-vbe from this incarnation, which is meant as a compliment.

Okay, so Jesse Eisenberg had a WORSE experience than the FF cast at SDCC............

"It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don't know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can't think of anything that's equivalent."

So SDCC is like a genocide?

Okay, he's got the "crazy" down pat.
