Yeah, I'm going to wait to see what the LE looks like, because the UE looks horrible and that price isn't all that appealing either.

The Japanese boxset re-release from 2019 does not have English subtitles right? There are review for it on a play-asia listing that seem to imply it does.

I gotta admit, I don't understand the *****ing about this packaging for this set, especially after scrolling through a lot of y'alls anime collections posted in the anime collection thread, all I see wall to wall is mostly Oversized LE sets, from Aniplex, Sentai and others, your taste is your taste but why now is a normal set needed? Which they already announced on the page that they are releasing.

This will be my only LE oversize set, being what the anime it is and what it means to me personally its worth it, but looking at all those massive anime collections with many Oversize LE sets, seems a little hypocritical to me

Made by fans my ass.
An homage to a bygone format, including both versions of the dubs and an artbook, I think it was made by fans.

Wow. I was expecting $150. Not close to $300. Might have to wait a bit. Also, if you DO pre-order, do they charge up front?

If I'm gonna have to do a remux to restore FMTTM, I might as well get the Japanese standard edition box.

I know when FUNimation released Escaflowne, they originally were only including the original Ocean dub in the limited edition on separate discs, but I believe they ultimately included it in the standard edition too after some backlash.

I see no reason why the original dub has to be limited to bonus discs. There's actually two versions of ADV's dub. It was remixed to 5.1 in 2004 to match Renewal. There's NO reason for that to not sync with the remaster. If Discotek can make janky VHS dubs from the early 90s sync, they could've absolutely made this sync.

They should be. Those are the only versions that ever ran on Netflix.

I wouldn't form an opinion on the few who post on this thread, this set will sellout and 5000 is more than the number of individuals who post on this specific eva threads, not that I care, better to go to fans who want it then people who have nothing better to do then complain.

I'm sure many will be happy with the standard sets.

The fact that this is your only oversized UE is probably why you don't get it. Plenty of us are tired of it after buying so many and they are annoyingly cumbersome to handle.

Not hard to understand at all.

UK version is only 1,500 copies, for comparison. 5,000 shouldn't sell out too fast, based on the reaction here. May even still be available after the pre-order cut off date (where it will go up in price).

They did not specify things such as if the episodes and movies are all sourced from the 2003 renewal project upgrade or if it includes the four directors cut episodes but I assume both those are a positive since 2003 I think that has been the official release.

They did however specify this set will only be available at Alltheanime/Gkids/Manga websites, but I wouldn't be surprised if a small batch ends up on say Zavvi. Looks like no Amazon preorder prices unfortunately.

100% a regular release is coming down the pipe at a later date, no way they are settling on selling 1500 sets in Europe, 5000 in the US and what likely smaller number for Australia and NZ.

Man I'm tempted to get this, but yeah I don't care about all the extras.

Wait, so people think the original subs wont be on a later standard release? I don't know much about the different subs, are the new ones less preferable generally? I had the show downloaded and I know I looked at 2 sets of subs and preferred one, but I don't remember which was which.

I think I preferred the one where it would actually say like, "Shinji-kun" if that's what someone said, but I may have just picked one over the other just because one didn't have translations for signs/etc

Man I'm so torn on this!

Any info on the differences between the different subs would be very helpful!

Maybe y'all shouldn't of hoarded LE sets for years were your shelfs are buried in them. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

Yes they charge when you order.

However Shop Pay had an installment option (i think it was 4 payments).

Yeah the only thing I'd really want in ultimate is classic dub. If that really is not in CE or standard... I'd probably want it.
