That is how all the iTunes users felt as the studios stabbed them in the back and tried to get them to switch to uv.
For people that like iTunes, imagine buying blu rays that included digital copies, (and sometimes you paid more for the special digital copy version) only to discover you had to buy an Apple device to play them. You couldn't watch the digital copy on the go because you didn't buy the only phone or tablet that would work with them. That is how all the non Apple owners felt as the studios only supported a digital copy format that was monopolized.

Again, I wish there was one locker that every provider could link to. I do however find it frustrating when people can't at least somewhat see both sides.

Probably just buying them outright on the ITunes Store. After all, what other option if codes are not included for UV and ITunes on every disc.

Why not? Surely a tipping point will come when codes are no more? If these digital copies have merit, people should pay full price.

I know we are getting off topic....

As someone who has just about worn out my F5 key on that thread over the past three years, the demand on the trading forum is far greater for UV compared to iTunes. The demand for UV codes in general has increased tremendously since I first joined.

HAHA, don't hold your breath on full priced codes only. Remember I am a physical guy first like you. There are only maybe 10 movies in existence that I would pay full price for a digital code only. 90% of my digital I obtained from $0-$5.

You can't get ITunes codes for most Blurays? Or have I missed something? How can you trade non existent codes?

Not all, and it depends on the week/studio but iTunes is still included on a lot of releases. Here is tomorrow's list from the "The is it redeemable through UV, iTunes, or both Thread".

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2688

Last week had a few less iTunes options. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2681

In the U.K it's mostly U.V. I rarely see a ITunes code on the back of my Bluray. I think the last one I saw was for star Trek beyond. Even U.V has changed last few months. Some covers dont even mention U.V. They just say Digital HD. So does that mean most U.S people get the choice of ITunes and UV with The majority of Blurays now?

I wouldn't say Majority have both. I honestly don't pay attention to which studio supports what as they (basically all of them) support UV and that is what I could use. Some have either or, some have UV only, and some let you redeem UV and iTunes.

There have been surveys that have gone out a while back that people randomly received about a new name for UV. Not sure if that ties in to the change, but Digital HD makes much more sense to the consumer compared to Ultraviolet.

Although....to be honest....HD-DVD was a pretty easy name selection to understand.

That's definitely true if you're talking television and not movies. Nobody does iTunes for television Blu-rays except HBO.

^Agreed.

From all my trading and giveaway's of digital codes, I can tell you the demand for UV codes is much, much higher than it is for i-tunes codes.

Usually the only people that are interested in i-tunes codes are people that are outside the United States. They don't have Vudu and apparently don't have any other good ways to watch UV movies. So they want i-tunes.

(Of course, I know some US users who prefer i-tunes. But I have found they are in the minority.)

EDIT:
Whipnet's post is a good example of the prices you will see for UV movies. And then the prices you will see for i-tunes movies.

I mean thats is one example of one guy who values uv over iTunes not actual sales where one sold and the other did not. I always found most of the prices kind of crazy for uv codes honestly. I can disc to digital the movie for $2 but somebody thinks they can get 8.50 for the code lol. The iTunes people probably just buy the blu ray use the code then sell the UV and Blu ray for more then they payed for the bundle at those prices.

I do notice most people on this site who prioritize redemption go itunes first then vudu if they want to try to redeem a code multiple times and want both services. I do this also personally because if I want a uv copy of most movies it would only cost me a dollar.

If we are talking about how much average people value iTunes or VUDU they both are rarely ever redeemed. When I buy a used copy of a film the hd iTunes portion is redeemed like 20% of the time and the uv portion is redeemed like 10% of the time. The majority of people just don't use either service on average. The only codes that people really do seem to value are Disney codes as they seem to be redeemed like 60 or 70% of the time though I am not sure if that is because of the rewards program (but when I sell my extra Disney blus people always ask if the codes are still good).

UV basically means Vudu. Just think of Vudu as another iTunes, Amazon, or Google. Yes you can access it on more devices but I mean the provider itself is the only relevant UV storefront. UV outside the USA is and always will be irrelevant or completely unknown.

I am not sure I understand a lot of your post. I think there are a lot of "percentages" and "most" thrown out there, that fall in line with a democratic debate.

It doesn't matter which service you redeem first for codes with dual redemptions. If you get both, you get both.

You also can't D2D brand new releases. You can however get InstaWatch on many of them. So the guy selling the new XXX movie over a week before official release, yeah, he can probably get $8.50 from some people. That price will drop on release day.

Yes, the quote appears it is from what "one guy" is listing them for, but the ratio is spot on. UV codes list and sell for more than iTunes. There is a much higher demand for UV codes. Doesn't mean iTunes codes suck. Just means there are more buyers for UV....currently. I can't tell you how many times I replied to a sell thread for a fairly priced code ($4-$5) within the same minute it was posted only to be told I was the 5th or so person to respond. The competition has increased for buyers.

Very true.

While I agree with you, Veritas, that some UV codes are over-priced. (I do see people selling some over-priced codes that you can D2D; who knows how long it takes people to actually sell those codes...........)

But like Squatting Hen says, you can't D2D a new release. A UV code that someone is selling before release day, or on release day will sell for a lot. There is a large demand for UV codes now. The prices for new release UV codes keep slowly going up, it seems. And people do pay it.

And the prices for new UV codes are always higher than the price for new i-tunes codes. You can easily see that from the buying/selling thread here on this site: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...0953&page=4442
