Even the thought of that makes me nervous (I have tinnitus)

I no longer go to concerts for that reason (not worth the risk)

Spoke to Vilya and he is still travelling a long distance for treatment. He is struggling with food sadly, but says he is stubborn and up for the fight.

I said he was a huge miss in this thread (and the forum of course) and he misses the daily interaction with us.

He has been given a year but with his attitude (and suitable treatment), hopefully that can turn into more time.

He knows he is highly regarded here and he feels the same way about all of us.

Do you still go to premium screenings like Dolby Cinema or IMAX presentations?

I do mate, I think constant music at a concert just makes me nervous. It might not sound very logical but mentally, music is more trying.

I listen to music at controlled levels at home.

Thats not the right one, have to think more about what title had that unusual bass dropping frequency effect that caused the whole place to resonate. its one of those odd effects right as the movie starts, thought it was Sony's Total Recall (2012) that never was reissued as a 4K UHD but nots it.

However the nuclear explosion in Oblivion (2016) is about as powerful a bass example as ever been on blu rays for bass heads.

It is Edge of Tomorrow. I was going to suggest that it was what you referring to originally since the bass note it hits at the beginning is a crazy bass sweep ending in the single digits that destroys subs. Once again though, the 4K changed that a bit.

The 3rd and final season of HBO’s “His Dark Materials” finally arrives out on Blu ray April 25 in the states. One of the best fantasy dramas to present its conclusion finally, shortly on blu ray. If not familiar with it, another partial adaption was the earlier incomplete Movie - Golden Compass.

Great show in deed with some of the best CG in a show I have ever seen. I preordered the third season once it was announced. Ruth Wilson commands your attention anytime she is on screen. This is really the only new release in April I have been looking forward to.

This show looks amazing. If a 4K disc was available, it would certainly be demo material.

Would love to see a three disc 4K set released, but that is a long shot in my opinion. The Blu-ray isn’t a slouch though as it stands. My only complaint is that it should have been in 2.40:1 aspect ratio.

I used to be active in data bass and avs forum when I used to have dual SVS subs.

This is a good thread but has been quiet for years.

https://data-bass.ipbhost.com/topic/...mes-music-etc/

The best long bass drop favourites of mine are:

1. War of the Worlds - Pod emerging scene.
2. World War Z - Grenade drop. This one will really feel like a bomb drop and can be scary.
3. Hurt Locker - Bomb explosion around 8 min mark.

There is one more but don't recollect thanks to my poor memory.

These are truly hard hitting and makes Ironhide flip in Transformers sound puny.

Love the three movies you have listed and not just because of their LFE output.

Lots of material for demo and testing at Demolandia (here). For example, several Dolby Atmos clips here.

Have these on NAS and USB thumb drives for Oppo, Sony, Zidoo and Zappiti.

I got a tad bit indecisive and was not able to catch Pope's Exorcist at the theater. I binged Florida Man on Netflix and that was a terrific little show. It's 7 episodes and is supposedly one of those limited series.

I just started watching Beef, also on Netflix.

I saw it this weekend and thought it was pretty good. Had a really active sound mix and a great performance from Russell Crowe. I saw it in a small auditorium at AMC and it was basically full except for the front two rows.

The best canon explosions has to be from this Russell Crowe Movie. It use to blow my Headphones Clean Out of the Water. Reminded me of adjusting 8" Artillery around DaNang, Vietnam!

It was definitely a go to demo back in the day. Would love to see this movie get a 4K release with a new Atmos track. The first big shootout scene has people running around on deck above you and would be perfect for Atmos.

The Pope's Exorcist was better than I was anticipating. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I also caught Renfield which was exactly as good as the trailers made it look. Overall a fun weekend at the movies. I will be seeing Evil Dead Rise this Saturday and cannot wait. Easily one of my most anticipated movies this year.
