Did you get the confirmation and tracking number on your LCR yet? It's coming from OH, and the weather is pretty bad in that neck of the woods. It's even bad down here in south Louisiana. Everything here is shut down. My wife didn't even get out of bed to go to work this morning.

I just checked. I have the tracking info, but looks like UPS didn't scan into their system. Yeah the entire US just about is under bad weather. It was near 75 yesterday, and our high today is in the low 50's.

Can't wait to see your pics of your new Center, and your new stands. I "may" be interested upgrading the stands myself.

Thanks Steve, that looks good. I found what I think to be a good deal here for a 24" pair. http://www.csnstores.com/VTI-UF-VI1047.html

Oh, I didn't realize csnstores and racksandstands were the same. I learned something new today.

99.99 + free shipping looks pretty good. I think 29" would be too high for me, puts it above ear level for me.
yeah, thats good, get the ones you want most, my tweeter is a bit above my ear level too, but even when I sit tall, I really don't hear that much of a difference at all, so I really don't think you would have an issue with the 29" ones.

Those are great stands.

use this to secure them

Yea, I'll be replacing some photos in my gallery once the LCR comes in. Not sure when I'll get the stands yet. Not sure when the new job will start; still waiting for them to call me to do the drug test and paper work.

It's below freezing here and freezing rain is expected this afternoon. It's supposed to continue through tomorrow so not sure how it will affect delivery.

Thanks Steve, I do have Home Depot, and I think I even saw that at Lowes while I was there the other day.

I took a quick measurement, and 29" looks like it would put the woofer at ear level. I'm also afraid it would put them a little too far from my center.

I agree my 30 inch stand are perfect I find even standing up the sound does not change much with my Rainmakers as they have tremendous Vertical dispersion.

For the fronts. Does the tweeter have to be at, above, or around ear level?

nice thing about the quake hold putty is that its removeable, won't scratch or cause permanent damage, reuseable.

Get the 24s then.... either way you will love the stands, they are great, while at HD/Lowes, get about 5 lbs of silica sand and put it in the front tube, half in each tube, it will weigh them down and make them so they cannot be knocked over and it will reduce resonance and firm up the sound, then run the cable down the back tube, you can even put some paper in the back tube if you want after the cable is in so that you can reduce the resonance there as well, thats what my dealer told me to do.

Yes Olivier, I've been looking at yours and Steve's current setup and my concern about distance between my center and fronts may be unfounded. I think what I'll do is take a couple of phone books and place them under my speakers to lift them up to 29". I'll give that a listen and I may end up with 29's. This should place them about dead center of my tv screen which may be a benefit.

generally around ear level, but it depends, the further back you sit, it has less affect. I like to keep my ears just below the tweeter. When Im sitting at home, im about 36-38" high, and the tweeter is about 40-41" from the ground, so for me Im perfect IMO, I sit about 7 feet away.

Thanks for that helpful advise Steve, and I was going to ask you about that putty hurting the speaker's finish. That answered my question before I could even ask. Thanks

don't worry about the center and front tweeters being at the same height, it would be great in a Perfect world, but if you have the center lower then just get a pair of door stop angles and slide them under the center to tilt it upwards to your seated position, I think Oliver uses something similar to point the center down.

Me I don't even have a center channel ATM... and its all good.

nope, my dealer uses the putty on everything. he lives by it. so do I now... you don't need much either. use maybe 4-5 small balls roll it in your fingers and place it on all 4 corners.

Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking last night. My current Infinity center's cabinet is built so that it's tilted upwards, and that's why I had it on the floor for a long time, and to me it sounded ok, but I did notice an improvement when I lifted it up in front of the tv. The transition across the front sound stage was definitely more seamless. That is one of the things I plan on doing when I get the LCR in, is try tilting it up a little.

I use the foam that comes with the speakers and I put it underneath my C-C100 to tilt it upwards.

BTW, what's the foam used for anyway?

I'm waiting for Bluray_ne1 to confirm the monitor stand he has in his HT gallery so I can get one and relieve the weight off my APC PC.

That's not a bad idea MaCruz. I won't have but about 1/2 an inch of space to play with so I could probably cut some small pieces out of that foam and make some spacers to lift up the front end a little.

the foam is the port plugs, in case you have a stand that has a closed back, you can plug the ports and tighten up the bass sound, that way it doesn't sound boomy and canned.

What do you mean a stand with a closed back?

Like a speaker stand?
