Not with VHS. Even when I was in college and I watched VHS on a 19" TV it still looked like crap even from across the room. A pig is a pig no matter how much lipstick you put on it.

But at least I really owned my VHS tapes, which is more than I will ever be able to say about any type of streaming.

Considering your immense investment in your home theater, you really should own a region free blu-ray player. You have cables that cost far more than such a player.

If you get one, every disc in the whole world will become available to you. It's so worth it. You should buy one reflexively and without any hesitation.

Don't believe there is a small kit for a 9000 like there was/is for the Oppo's. Might be a US service available where you send the 9000 in for a mod.

Exactly this. I always find it baffling when people who are passionate about discs aren't region free.
I almost fell off my chair when I heard Steedeel wasn't region free. ( Maybe he is now, not sure )

You're a Load of BS trying to puff yourself up to be so knowledgeable. You have been trying to get rid of me for almost a Decade back to that BB Fiasco. Most of the time I try not to pay attention to you, with your Graphs and stuff that I don't know what you are trying to prove. Streaming is getting better, but you need to be Wired properly. I'm Wired like Techthusiasm, and my Streaming is like his!

If he's using Kaleidescape then I promise you his "streaming" is nothing like yours.

Let's go through your comment item by item:

1. Wendell is knowledgeable. This is true whether you personally like him or not. He said your comment, not you, was BS and, sadly, many of them are.

2. No one is trying to get rid of you. Even in my private conversations with other members I can not recall anyone wishing that you were gone.

3. You admit that you "don't know" what his "graphs and stuff" prove. Sorry, but that alone is proof positive of just how little you actually know. It is a reflection upon you, not him.

4. Streaming has not "gotten better." Netflix has actually reduced their bitrates making their service demonstrably worse. The other streaming services are about the same as they have been for years.

5. It has been proven ad nauseum that you do not need to be hard wired in order to fully enjoy what streaming offers. Repeating a falsehood does not make it true, but it does make the person doing all that repeating look foolish.

6. The video that you linked to has nothing to do with streaming. Kaleidescape is a DOWNLOAD service. A downloaded video is in no way the same thing as a streamed video. If you do not understand this fundamental fact, then you really are in way over your head.

You can buy a modified Panasonic 9000, but they are way overpriced. I recommend just buying a region free modified blu-ray player as there are several models that you can buy for under $200.

Admittedly, if you want something with a hefty build quality, you will have to spend more. I have pillows that weigh more than my region free modified Sony BDP-S6700, but it has worked fine (so far) despite being a featherweight.

With a layman’s point of view I may look that way to you. I try to present post as simple as I can. Just recently I asked if anyone besides you had any problems understanding some of the data that I posted and got no replies.

I am not trying to get rid of you, have tried to teach you something but failed. For newer readers, I even gave this poster a Netflix gift card and told him how to check Netflix video data rates, resolution, Netflix test patterns and Netflix server test. Apparently did no good.

People here have repeatedly told you they are sick of your “wired, fiber, symmetrical” trite. They make fun and laugh at you, are you to dense to realize this?

I too am wired but I also do Wi-Fi. I stream almost every night at bedtime via Wi-Fi from one of my video servers at data rates that is similar to most HD internet streams. Have no problems doing this using very old 801.11g.

I have one of those for 6 years now. Still shows as a current model on the Sony site.

Watched Matrix: Reloaded tonight. While not a match for the original, it’s a lot of fun. The freeway chase was stunning in 4K, and the detail in the sentinels design was superb. The surround highlights were frequent, from the subtle but immersive mechanical engines and machines backdrop of Zion, to the sweeping directional cues of the burly brawl.

Absolutely delightful A/V quality and film stands up pretty well.

4/5 compared to the original’s 5/5.

Even though I have been watching 4K discs for a while now, I still feel like I’m in the honeymoon phase.

Two more to go and I can’t wait.

Yes you Disc Guys like to do a lot of laughing and make fun of things you don't understand. I know Kaleidescape is a download, but Techthusiasm also Streams and test different Providers so this is what I was talking about.

Wendell I know you started me on Netflix, and I still have and use it regularly and I did appreciate that. As for Symmetrical Fiber and Hardwire I still stand by that it must be my Telco background. I believe WiFi is good for only Mobile Devices or places you can't Hardwire. You guys have your beliefs and so do I, we will know soon enough who Wins Out!
