Depends on how much blue and magenta you can tolerate in the other one I guess. Somewhere inbetween would've been my preference - though it's worth mentioning that the HDR grades add some more punch to the colour than seen here on SDR Blu - but I will never, ever watch those absurdly oversaturated and blown out (look at the speculars on Threepio in the 'overlooking Mos Eisley' shot) 2011 Blu-rays again.

Agreed, its better but still not perfect :/ At least its more realistic in most ways but it really needed someone who was in charge of the filming to do the colour grading imo. Or just avoid using the same colour temperature settings for the entire movie, of all the movies you'd think someone would spend a bit more time doing this properly

Sorry to hear people haven't been getting the new TROS slip from HMV online, I guess I was lucky ordering on the first day.
I would have been tempted with upgrading Solo to 4K as well, but I kept hearing how dark it is in comparison to the BD, and my TVs contrast ratio isn't great to handle that. |

I love the new presentations. I haven't been blown away by a Star Wars reissue since the Definitive Edition LD set. So it was a very welcome (and long overdue) treat to watch them all again. Empire looks amazing IMO. |

In terms of guaranteed slipcover, the best bet would be to physically go to one of the HMV stores and then you'll be able to see what you're getting.
All my Star Wars 4Ks I got from HMV online in the last couple of weeks have come with slipcovers, including Rogue One. |

I can't see an image of the board of the falcon posted here but I can't say I prefer one over the other on these images, it's so hard to tell with screenshots on computer display vs something running in its full glory on a proper TV without the compression, they're different for sure, the new colours do looked toned down on the new shots. I only ever watch the despecialised edits so I dont exactly have a horse in this race.

Thanks again for the comparison shots @chip75
![]() And @pferreira, I totally see where you are coming from in regards to the colours. They do look more muted (you could say) in the newer versions. But I've actually gone though this whole internal debate when trying to settle on a picture setting for my TV. When I got the new TV (an upgrade from an old plasma), I found all the various settings bewildering and overwhelming. After much obsessive online research, I moved away from my initial settings (which were more "blue white") to whats generally considered more accurate (a sort of "yellow white"). Now even at that, I still don't have it set to what is considered *most* accurate, as it looks even too yellow white for my comfort levels. But I'm happy that what I'm looking at now is more colour accurate than what I started out with. In comparison, the older blurays look more like the "vivid" settings on my TV. Punchy colours and a very strong "blue white", where as the new blurays have more of the "cinema" setting "yellow white" look to them. Of course its a personal preference as to which you prefer (or which you are more used to seeing), but to my eyes now, the newer versions look more natural compared to the older ones. I'll know more when I eventually get them in the post to watch ![]() |
