He says something along the lines of,
[Show spoiler]"Oh. It burns going down" in reference to the drink in his hand.

WTF? Seriously? They are CGI alien creatures that have no semblance to anything that actually exists on our planet. People need to lighten up and not be so sensitive when it comes to entertainment.

But, the question now becomes, how do you know that the reason they left was because of animal cruelty? Perhaps they were in the wrong theatre and didn't realize it until that part? Perhaps they had an emergency to attend to? I highly doubt that you followed them out, asked them why they left, and got an answer which you are sharing with us here.

Geesh! The dog in the Collector's place survived that huge explosion. Do you think Gunn did that to make up for the rat kicking?

Also, the dog's name was in the credits too. I believe it was 'Fred'. No rat had their name in the credits. I bet that burns you too. LOL!

In the movie, when the guardians enter the room to meet with the collector, Howard turns his head to look at them. It looks to me like he's looking at them based where he's positioned.

Hmm...that could be anything. Although, I do recall seeing a figure with what looked like a a white head with a beak but he was positioned top center as The Collector was walking forward. Since the background was out of focus, it was hard to tell.

I think he said
[Show spoiler]"that's just gross," or he just said "that's gross."

After he says "Gross" he takes a drink from the glass he was holding and then says "It burns going down" referring to the drink.

In that interview I posted a few posts back, Gunn posits that the Knowhere museum was one of many.

Little Peter:
"They killed a frog, that's why I got into a fight with them!"

26 years later-Peter:
"Hey, I'm gonna kick around some small defenseless creatures and use a rat as a microphone because stayin' in character is such a thing of the past!"

But what do I know, maybe he just had to show us how manly and funny he is after Michael Rooker's influence... yeah, that must be it...

CGI or not, it's still animal cruelty, and playing that for laughs in this day and age is just insensitive, inappropriate, mean and careless, and I can't really say I can sympathize with a main character who acts that way.

It's not really making fun of them... James Gunn is just a huge fan of the character.

But I don't get all the complaints about it. I guess it could have been more important...

Like the entire team sitting around and eating Swarma or something.
