Many of us "disc guys" have more invested in streaming than you do. Many of us have larger digital collections than you do as well. The only thing not understood is your obstinate refusal, or inherent inability, to learn anything from anyone.

Posting a video that has nothing to do with what is being discussed is simply bizarre. Why not post a video that was actually relevant to the conversation?

Beliefs do not supersede facts. It has been PROVEN that you do not need symmetrical internet to stream videos nor do you have to have a hard wired connection, either.

No streaming service provider even states an upload speed requirement. None. Not one. The only person that makes that claim is, well, you. A retired cable installer does not know more about streaming requirements than do the streaming services themselves.

No streaming service that I am aware of says that you need a hard wired connection, either.

I would wager that you could not tell whether I, or Wendell, or anyone else, was streaming videos over a wireless or a wired network. I use both, the same as Wendell, and if one was truly better than the other I would use that connection exclusively. And before you tell us what an astute observer you are may I remind you of this classic quote of yours:

The reason that Wifi has already "won out" is because it works. People would not prefer wireless if it did not work. Even you should be able to grasp that concept.

That's just it, we understand perfectly because the majority of us stream as well as watch discs. I do both daily. It is you who have no basis for comparison because you only stream.

I get download speeds of over 900mbps over my wifi. All 3 people in my house could be streaming 4K content on separate devices at the same time and not even come close to saturating that bandwidth. My son plays online games while my wife and I stream different 4K content in separate rooms, all over wifi, with no latency or loss of quality.

If you don't enjoy being "laughed at" then have the intelligence and self awareness to admit when you're wrong and move on. That's what adults do. I've been proven wrong on these and other forums several times and always reply admitting my mistakes and acknowledging those who called me out. But you don't do that. You double down on your false claims like a petulant child and say "it's all digital" or "symmetrical fiber" or "you need to be hardwired for the best quality" which is all as nonsensical as it gets. YOU control how others interact with you here. Either grow and learn or accept that you will often be mocked. The choice is yours.

I finally watched the theatrical cut of:

It comes as no surprise that Christopher Lee gave a fine performance as the Lord over a Scottish island full of heathens. A holier than thou Christian constable from the mainland comes to investigate a missing person report and finds himself getting played by all of the islanders in the worst possible way. Quite a musical film, too, with some very amusing songs.

It is also a very colorful film with some scenes of full exposure that should be even more revelatory when this movie comes out on 4K disc this September.

I plan to watch the director's cut tomorrow night and then the final cut after that. I had a great time watching this and I have no regrets paying a pretty penny for the Australian Imprint blu-ray edition. If all goes well for me I may have to spring for this upcoming 4K steelbook edition :

That what I would do. Or, Use a PC to playback your out of region titles.

I only have 1 out of region blu ray that I watch with any regularity and the 9000 plays it without modification. I put in the disc and it says it's the wrong region and I hit stop and then top menu and it's ready to go. I do have imported discs that are region free.

If I purchased an Envy then purchasing something else would not be on my radar for a long time.

I think there is a chance you have the best home theater in the world with the combination of the MadVR and NZ8 and all killer audio side.

One of my kids decided to get into Vinyl.
The technology loving part of me thinks it makes no sense.

But, Seeing the fun she is having with it I'm reminded it doesn't really matter what makes you happy provided it's making you happy.

Kind words to say the least, but there are some insane rooms out there. I got to experience a system well over $1 million, which was certainly impressive. There is always someone out there with a bigger boat.

I haven’t had a lot of time to watch content, but did get a chance to watch an episode of season 5 of Yellowstone on Blu-ray yesterday, and can honestly say what the Envy does with SDR content is mind blowing. I was not expecting to have my jaw drop like that. The feature I am looking forward to the most is their motion interpolation update which is around the corner.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, I was under pressure having recommended it so hard.

Yeah, the landlord’s daughter sure had some good moves!

I loved Ed Woodward in this as well, everyone was on top form. Look forward to seeing your views of the extra scenes and your favourite version.

I once wrote a 20 page review of. This film, I won’t inflict that on anyone here though!

Okay fine, but you guys are the ones that complain about Digital Streaming and "Potato Vision." My Streaming to any Provider is Rock Solid and the Quality is right up there. If you're happy with your connection and WiFi, you guys should have No Complaints!

For me and others in my circle playing vinyl was a physical experience. Make a selection, place the disk on the platter, carefully clean then lower the arm. Many times, get out the gauge and measure the tracking force to make sure it was correct and/or do a strobe test to make sure the rotation rate was correct.

Another for some of us was open reel tape. Make sure the heads and tape path was clean, heads demagnitized, etc. Fun times!!!

Not complaining, just stating some facts.

Audio and video that is over compressed will stay that way regardless of delivery methodology. I know iTunes, Netflix and maybe some others will allow you to download some content. That would allow local playback but it will still be the same over compressed content.

Tried motion interpolation via my Sony projector and for some content really looked good but on some content it created artifacts I did not like so that feature was turned off. Would bet the algorithms mad uses are much more sophisticated. Need to see what Lumagen is doing in that area.

My theater is certainly more "theater" than media room. Upstairs I have a TV for video game consoles.
I think ther eis a very fine line between the two which sometimes makes it hard to tell where a room should fall into.

For me a HT has to have a projector and seating set-up for the whole purpose of watching in front.

A media room is a bit more flexible in display and seating set-up.
