I'm in for the B&W version but I would like to know if there will be an option to watch with full dialogue/audio. I'm in for isolated score but I would like both options when watching the B&W version.

Is there even an isolated track?

That's what I was wondering, people keep referring to this 'music only'' or even 'silent' track on the back of what Miller said, but until we get it we won't know for sure.

Why? I think it looks pretty good, actually.

I didn't mean to start confusion. I read about the B&W version with just the soundtrack awhile back. It's just a matter of time now till the details come to light.

Yeah, I imagined the 4K version wasn't much different. In fact, all the edge enhancement is probably even more noticeable. I hope the black and white version gets rid of that crap...

So the set contains 6 discs? The 4 movies (Mad Max, Road Warrior, Thunderdome & Fury Rd) plus 1 UHD Fury Rd plus the BW version?

Forgive my ignorance but is there any point in buying a B&W version of Fury Road when you could just turn the colour off on the existing disc ?!

Is that too simplistic or is there more to it (from a technical standpoint) ?

I really don't like the look of Fury Road in black and white. Just sucks the life out of it in my opinion. A sepia tone would look better to me but what do I know (not much). I'll just consider this Black and Chrome edition to be an extra feature I'll probably start then cut off like 20 minutes in. I hope Fury Road has a bunch more extras not just an introduction.

I hope they warm up the color saturation on Road Warrior to make it look like the DVD. It needs it and makes it look much better I think. Doubt they will.

Also very interested to see new extra features for Road Warrior (and Thunderdome I guess). It amazes me that it never got a 2 disc Special Edition way back in the DVD days.

I haven't watched Madness of Max even though I own it on Vudu but will admit I have already had more than my fill of extras on the original movie.

I'm on the fence about this one.

The Black and Chrome edition will be completely regraded from the original camera files. So instead of just draining color from the color version, they're going back to the source and going shot-by-shot for the best effect. See some of my mock-ups for an idea of what that could look like.

I'll probably jump on this for Crimbo. I don't already own Thunderdome, Road Warrior or Fury Road yet, so it's really a no brainer.

And no guys, with the B&W versions, it's not the same as just "turning your color off." As stated, they grade it properly. Geez.

I don't like B&W version of The Mist, so I don't expect to like B&W version of Fury Road, especially when visually it's one of my favorite movies of all time, but it should look amazing on OLED with HDR.

The UHD version is already out, though. You can get it now.

When it says
Quote:
The Blu-ray collection will also include a 4K-Ultra HD version and a UV Digital Copy of Mad Max: Fury Road.
does that mean that out of 4 movies, only the last one is getting a digital version?

To add to the previous answer, if you just drain the colour from the current Blu-ray image then it reveals a lot of compression artefacts which are usually hidden in the gradation of the colour, but without the colour then things like flames in darkness have a lot of banding around them. I know because I tried it for myself when the Blu was first released.

Also, take a look at this image:

Can't even tell the difference in colour with no saturation. It may also be necessary to "grade" the colours differently when converting to black & white (almost like using a yellow or blue filter when shooting on B&W film) otherwise it may be difficult to tell where the orange land ends and the blue sky begins.

The image isn't showing up for me.
