anche a me piaciano i "big butt." anche se altri fratelli mentirono.

(sorry -- would have quoted the reference a few pages back, but my computer is being slow and I don't want to reload the page).

Fat Girl is a much underappreciated film in my opinion.

Oh, agree totally. It's a provocative film, for sure... and much like Melancholia, ends with a happy ending, depends on who you ask.

Watching Red now, and for some reason, can't connect with it.

You're referring to the "Wacky New Years" drawings? Should be getting one on the 1st of January. Hints of upcoming releases, though doesn't always pan out (y tu mama tambien, Wild Strawberries) and sometimes are interpreted incorrectly. They've done them for the last couple of years.

Those clamoring for THE GAME and Y TU MAMA TABIEN shouldn't be blaming Criterion. It's up to those directors to approve the transfers, etc. They just haven't gotten around to it with their schedule....

Finally ordered The Great Dictator from Barnes & Noble. The total came out to $20 after the 40% off plus a 15% coupon. Can't wait to finally view this classic and important film of it's day. It will be a Chaplin first for me.

With the BN 40% off an the 20% discounts for online purchases on DVD talk, if you liked Carlos, you might want to look at the two-part Mesrine. It showed here in the US last year, an though I only saw Part I, I thought Vincent Cassell did a great job as the major-league (eventually public enemy number 1 in France) criminal. The man had an amazing, dark, audacious crime career, and Cassell just inhabits the role. It's a huge performance.

Got both parts for $18.03 each as a member. Been following the price on the blu for a while now and this is the cheapest I've been able to score it.

Yeah I saw that after the fact. So I used it on Looney Tunes for $26.99.

The guy from Branded to Kill, are his cheeks real? Might be a silly question but I just had to ask. I tried watching it on Hulu but for some reason it has synching issues with the voices. Same happened with Hidden Fortress. I wonder if its just with Japanese films cause Rules of the Game and Jules and Jim played fine.

I don't use their shipping any longer & these will be the last purchases I make @ B&N since I have a gift card and my membership ends 12-31-11. They messed up billing me months ago and still haven't made good on it so no online ordering just get this instore and be done with them. (sorry for the rant)

Nope.
From Wikipedia:
"Displeased with his middling success in melodramas and "blandly handsome features", Shishido underwent cheek augmentation surgery in 1957, increasing their size. Some have described his new look as "ruggedly handsome" and others equated it as being distinctly chipmunk-like. Afterwards, he began getting bigger parts predominantly as villains in action movies."

Mrs DrBikeShorts refers to him as "Chubby Cheeks"

That's crazy. He pretty much made himself more ugly to get roles. Atleast it paid off for him in the end.

Been watching my copy of Wings of Desire and it seems to freeze on the 44th minute? I try to forward it and it won't play properly until the next chapter, which is on the 56th minute mark. Anybody else have the same problem?

Edit: Crisis averted. :P

Same thing happened to me, but with Stagecoach. Still waiting for Jon Mulvaney to respond to an email that I sent to him about it in August.
