I have an update of my own as you (and many others) were very supportive a while back when I revealed my sister’s troubles.

Her kidney function is down to 8% now so she has had a procedure to prepare for dialysis. She can’t have a transplant as of yet because her bladder is constantly inflamed. She will need to have her bladder removed before the surgeon’s can perform a transplant as she would probably bleed out otherwise. So we are talking the operation, a few months to recover, then the transplant.

We don’t know what caused what, her kidney stones, COVID and/or sepsis could be to blame.
Furthermore, because she is so poorly we are keeping other news away from her, (not related to her) but that’s a one for PM as I have already hijacked the page.

So, every night I pray for my family, and I pray for you. As I say to my sister, only that person knows how they feel, as they are the one going through it.
I think you are a very strong person, I’m rooting for you.

Oh, and Strange New Worlds is fab!
Your sister has endured so much and she has some huge challenges ahead, but she is quite the fighter with a very supportive family at her side. I have confidence that she will overcome all of this, too. She is an inspiration to me; I hope that I have half the fight in me that she has shown to have in herself.

Thank you.

I spend so much of my time and what little energy I have dealing with medical matters that I think I learned a lot of this stuff by osmosis. I have 3 appointments over the next 5 days. Being chronically ill is full time work. Involves lots of traveling, too.

Hopefully, I will get around to watching it a little more expeditiously than I did with The Wicker Man.

Yes I agree, I’m in the UK and 90% of the folk I know who are not physical media collectors subscribe to Netflix and just a few are with Disney+ and Amazon. I also am aware of several VHS, DVD and Blu-ray collectors who have either stopped buying discs or sold/given away their collections and have gone full on streaming.

Amazon does pretty good with some of their original content. As a digital locker in the US they suck, iTunes, MA and VUDU do a fair amount better.

I’m confident you will love it. Im only 3 episodes in but it’s smashing. The ship looks stunning by the way. My favourite of the entire franchise.

Yeah, ITunes is the best by a wide margin.

iTunes does a little better than MA for audio, MA does better with video. Some has confused bandwidth with A/V data rates, it just indicates the size of the pipe between the end user and the CDN. I included it so folks could see the relative low video rates were not hampered by the internet.

Yeah, no experience with MA for obvious reasons. Thanks for the chart. It’s a little baffling how Prime falls so behind at similar bit rates. Apple HD and 4K far superior for me personally. By far the least artefacts.

"For me, a 4K UHD is only worth buying if it's a must-see film with a terrific transfer. Anything less and I'll pick the Blu-ray. I have a feeling most people feel the same way."

"Standard 4K blurays were only £10 - £15 new in 2018 & mostly came in slips. Now they're £22 when first released & dont have slips. It's an insane price increase."

Pre-ordered the Second Sight 4K disc sets of It Follows and Crimes of the Future. I went with their regular edition counterparts. Don't need all trinkets or lobby cards for these.

To be fair, the two quotes below your video link are not quotes from FaH as your post implies; they are actually from two different viewers commenting on FaH's youtube page. Anyone being quoted should always be explicitly identified.

Those of us that want 4K discs are fully capable of deciding for ourselves what prices we are willing to pay along with any other criteria that we choose to use.

Slip covers are often only available on first pressings; if people wait for sales and deep discounts they may well not get one. No matter how pretty they may be, they are still just pieces of cardboard.

If 4K discs are not selling, as alleged in the title of this numbnut's video, then perhaps this brain trust can explain why we are seeing so many more titles released on the format? Kinda of odd behavior on the part of the studios and their licensees to release ever more product if it isn't selling.

As for Jeffie at FaH, I agree with the assessment of him found here:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=33930

and more recently:

That's probably the best title for that at FaH that I have heard yet.

Anyone know an easy to use PGS subtitle writer? I have a few foreign imports without subs. My Zidoo can't read the special SRT codes I wrote two years ago. Indentations.

Oh, cool.

Subtitle Edit: File -> Export -> Blu-ray sup

....

Doesn't really work.

Those quoted user comments are bullshit anyway, 4K titles were NOT being sold at retail at “£10-£15” when they first came out in the UK, or ever. Look at the comments on AVF at that time (which was full of 4K sceptics anyway, we Britishers are a wonderfully technophobic people) and you’ll see them moaning that they’re £20-£25 and far too expensive. If anything the price has remained steady despite the skyrocketing inflation, it never ceases to amaze me how people craft their own memories around what some bumblef*ck on YouTube says.

Some chaps was arguing the same on one of the deals sites. Just because you bought Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season for a fiver and got some Zavvi Steelbooks they almost couldn't give away ... it's not the norm.

I remember when I bought the French release of Into the Night for a penny, but everything wasn't a penny back then. But I sure do miss HMV's 5 for £30!
