No ads will cost you 53% more. Another $7 a month. That's not "a few dollars more." Don't forget taxes.
I don't think you want to bring math into the argument. Let's apply it your previous post:

Their debt burden should be considered, also, not just their "cash on hand" in isolation.
For a company with a Market Cap of almost $200 billion, that's pocket change. ALL public companies carry debt.

Disney: $47 billion
Comcast: $105 billion
Paramount Global: $15.638 billion - this one is an issue because the Market Cap is only $10.58 billion
You call $14.47 billion "pocket change" to a company with a market cap of $200 billion. That's 7.235% of their market cap in debt. That's like someone who only has a total of $20,000 in assets thinking of $1,447 as "pocket change".

I'd say that's a drastically bigger stretch than saying that $7 is "a few dollars".

Additionally if alchav really is that strapped for cash he could have easily cancelled Netflix for a month and upgraded his Hulu account to the ad-free tier. But instead he chose to watch 13 hours of ads.

[Show spoiler]By the way, would you mind giving me some of your "pocket change"?

Gravity can be a real beech.

I would have anchored the folding legs with a cinder block or some other heavy object if I had to use a folding table as a computer desk. The joys of hindsight.

In the last few months I've watched:

Absentia
Battle Creek
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Chicago Fire
Go On
Impulse
L.A.'s Finest
Orange is the New Black
Pinky and the Brain
Reacher
Shameless
The Wrong Mans

All of them were watched on disc. None of them had commercials.
Yea right, you just have to wade through all that Junk at the beginning of every Disc.....I'll stick with Streaming!

Just to be clear: you think 10 minutes of ads per episode is better than 1 minute of studio logos per disc (generally 4-6 episodes)?

You're even worse at math than Lee.

I'm pretty sure that you get the studio logos when you stream also. Very easy to skip past them in either case.

I was referring to the studio logos that come before the menu. Those are often unskippable (unless you are playing on a PC) but still drastically shorter than any commercials.

Those are still better than the start-up buffering you often get when beginning to stream something. I love waiting for the streamed video to cycle thru SD to HD and then to 4K.

Commercials are always insufferable.

Insert obligatory comment about wired connection here.

That just tells me that you don't know how to work a disc player.

I don't know what a Disc Suffel is but unless it takes 39 minutes for every disc than it's still going to be less than the 40 minutes of commercials you are watching.

Disc suffel?

Is that supposed to mean the time that it takes to swap out a disc? If you think that takes "minutes" to do, then you must be slower than your own wit.

A disc worth of episodes is usually plenty for one viewing session, anyway. If I want to continue past one disc, I time the swap for one of my snack/bathroom breaks.

If I am really lazy, I will pre-load the next disc in another player from the outset and just press a button to switch inputs when the first disc is done playing.

Someone name a disc (preferably one you think I own) and I'll time exactly how long it takes to find the disc in my collection, put it in my player, and get past the junk at the beginning.

I bet it takes less time than watching an erectile dysfunction drug ad.

I assume so. You can time the ad while I get a disc... still waiting for a name.

2 minutes and 17 seconds. I chose John Wick Chapter 2 on 4K Blu-ray.

This was the total time it took to:
Start my stopwatch.
Get up.
Walk to my collection.
Find the John Wick Chapter 2 disc.
Get the disc out of the case.
Walk to my Blu-ray player.
Insert the disc.
Sit down.
Wait for the disc to load.
Wait for the studio logos and FBI warnings.
Select play movie.
Pause the movie.
Pause my stopwatch.

It took longer to write what I did then it took to do it.

You must be very tired after all of that exertion.

My internet is all but down, so I guess I am done playing here tonight. My download speed is just 0.8 Mbps and that's on a hardwired connection. I am so glad that I do not have to rely upon the asshats at Mediacom for my entertainment.

I guess I'll just have to watch John Wick Chapter 2 over and over so I never have to go through the arduous task of swapping discs again.

I wish you had chosen a better movie for me to watch for the rest of my life.

I'm surprised you didn't use lower figures.

No it isn't. You are forgetting one thing. When debt load is analyzed you SUBTRACT cash on hand to get a true picture of debt. So when we do that it's less than half of you 7.23%.

Maybe he doesn't want to churn his account. Cancelling then resubscribing isn't just 1,2,3.
