A disc worth of episodes is usually plenty for one viewing session, anyway. If I want to continue past one disc, I time the swap for one of my snack/bathroom breaks.

If I am really lazy, I will pre-load the next disc in another player from the outset and just press a button to switch inputs when the first disc is done playing.
I do the can-can before swapping discs so it takes me a fecking age!

Churn is simple, ... if you are alone in life. But deals that require you commit for extended times will be used to fight churn.

If you have a family then telling them this is Disney month and next month is Netflix month they will understand but you won't go long without arguments about it. Something they need to see because all the friends are talking about it will be on the wrong channel.

Either way , .... streaming is a thousand times better than ads. Streaming is a money pit and ad based streaming will be most of what is available. The people who have money can't get enough if it. Streaming is what TV was and none of it has any effect on the ability to actually buy media.

Paying for ad based service is Mad.

Bit of non trivial trivia -
[Show spoiler]
Mad Magazine existed without Ads for 44 years.
"In their first 44 years they never had a single ad. It was against their ethos, and many of their pieces were about finding – and making fun of – the blatant lying that happens in advertisement."

I guess your family never learned about the dangers of peer pressure.

BJ's Wholesale Club More 3D on the way

3D is that thing that never dies.

Now, Apple has decided it wants to bank on it so expect 3D availability like never before. We do have 2 eyes after all (hopefully).

Apple, Pixar, Adobe, and others form Alliance for OpenUSD for cinematic 3D content

https://9to5mac.com/2023/08/01/apple...ic-3d-content/

From the atricle....

OpenUSD is a high-performance 3D scene description technology that offers robust interoperability across tools, data, and workflows. Already known for its ability to collaboratively capture artistic expression and streamline cinematic content production, OpenUSD’s power and flexibility make it an ideal content platform to embrace the needs of new industries and applications […]
“Universal Scene Description was invented at Pixar and is the technological foundation of our state-of-the-art animation pipeline,” said Steve May, Chief Technology Officer at Pixar and Chairperson of AOUSD. “OpenUSD is based on years of research and application in Pixar filmmaking. We open-sourced the project in 2016, and the influence of OpenUSD now expands beyond film, visual effects, and animation and into other industries that increasingly rely on 3D data for media interchange. With the announcement of AOUSD, we signal the exciting next step: the continued evolution of OpenUSD as a technology and its position as an international standard.

Had that pressure all my life but stood firm, never wanted kids and I’m happy in my own company. Just date career woman or woman who don’t want kids. Even then, I’m not that bothered lately, I like the freedom.

When I was a young adult I never wanted to get married or have kids. Ended up with both and have no regrets. I understand it's not for everyone but you also don't know what you're missing. My daughter is grown and moved out now but I'm still married and better off for it.

Took me all of 27 seconds to be at the Netflix Cancel Streaming Plan screen. Upon restarting a streamer I may have to sign back in on a device and I select the mobile device method were they send me a 6 digit number that I enter. Much easier than name@mail.com account method. If really needed I keep a Bluetooth keyboard (here) in the home theater to sign into streaming accounts, NAS devices or Windows shares.

I think I’m wired differently, I just really enjoy my own company and don’t see it changing. I mean, it’s easy to date these days but for the last couple of years, can’t be bothered.

It’s great, I can stick the PS5 on and play online, I can watch a film in the HT, I can watch what I like, I can do what I like lol.

The few relationships I had, I felt claustrophobic after a few months.

Like I said, just wired differently.

Regardless, I got my Hobbit 3D replacement guys, I also bought a desk lamp with falling sand that forms patterns/landscapes. No idea why I am telling you all that, but there you go!

I certainly would not put anything fragile and valuable on a table with collapsible legs. That's a recipe for disaster.

He just wants to do everything as cheaply as possible, which is his choice, but then he also wants to give us lectures about what is needed to have a quality viewing and listening experience.

Cancelling/adding a SVOD literally takes seconds.

Nothing wrong with adding some aerobics to movie night. Just be careful where you aim those leg kicks.

I have to consider if I cancel Netflix that I can't sign up again with the $9.99 ad free plan that they are letting me keep for now. It's no longer available for new users.
