I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do, but who is the Crazy One? If Streaming is an option, then you have to pick your Providers wisely. I've had my main three Providers, Prime, Netflix, and Vudu for over 5 Years. Then I added some others for the content I watch, but I try to maintain a Budget because I still have an ISP with IPTV and a Server DVR. I don't like to play the Provider Shuffle, so I balance some with Ads. I know they have to start making a Profit to stay in Business. You guys try to Support Disc, I'll put my Money on Streaming!

Streaming seems to really need support; you should put even mo' money towards streaming and subscribe to the top tier plan of all of them. Show them that you're "committed" to the cause.

I currently just pay for HBO Max, and use Tubi for free, in addition to my collection. And honestly, I feel pretty satisfied between those three. Too much garbage to sift through these days, relative to a curated disc library. I would even be comfortable dropping Max in the near-future, but my disc collection is only around 400 titles, so I'd like a bigger selection first. Max is still nice for Warner Archive & Criterion titles, as I only own a dozen or so of those. |

I don't know if that is true, according to the Revenue Report for BD and 4K is almost $23. 4K's when they first come out are from about $25-$35 average $30. That is a $7 difference, and from the three you just bought, Goodbye, Ferris, and Guardians. Your Average should be about $24, that is a $6 difference. So IMO that is below the Studios Profit Margin!

![]() Physical media is profitable, something that most streaming services have yet to accomplish, and that is why discs are still offered in an ever increasing selection of titles despite declining overall sales. I checked my Amazon order history for the years 2017-2018 when I first began to buy 4K discs and my average priced paid was nowhere near the range of $25-$35 for 4K disc titles; a price range that you probably just made-up. It was much closer to about a $20-22 average. 4K discs were launched in 2016; I was a little slow to join the party. Btw, I am the one that purchased those three titles, not Steedeel. I paid $17.99, $23.99, and $29.96 for the three titles respectively plus sales tax. Thus, the average cost per title was $23.98. However, the first title was a blu-ray. The average per title cost for my 4K purchase was therefore $26.98. Still a bargain, especially when you account for six years of inflation since 2017. Why you trouble yourself over the profitability of something that you don't even buy is the biggest mystery of all. You should be much more concerned about how most streaming services are unable to turn a profit year after year despite their double digit growth in revenue. Had not planned to attend this year but got an email from Jim Peterson of Lumagen saying he would be at the show so off we went. Got to talk to Jim for several minutes and enjoyed that. Did the same for reps from Barco (projectors), Definitive Technology, JBL (Synthesis Speakers), JVC (projectors), madVR, Sony (projectors), Stewart Film Screen and Storm Audio.
Some of the sound exhibits were really bad, as in bad choice source of material, SPL beyond the capability of the speakers and/or audio amp power. I asked a couple of reps if they could not hear how distorted their sound was and one or two admitted they could. The JBL Synthesis Speakers was the worst. Height speakers - Definitive had a fairly new model that looked interesting (here), forgot to partake of the demo till it was too late. Direct View - JBL was using a large Samsung The Wall display. Really bright and sharp. Most all were using UHD Blu-ray or Kaleidescape as their source. The madVR guys were using files from UHD Blu-ray played on a Zidoo Z9X. The JBL exhibit did have a Apple TV4K, don’t know if it was used. |

He obsesses about his fever dream delusion that the studios are losing their shirts over discs, something that he doesn't even buy, while being entirely oblivious to their factual inability to make a profit with their streaming service ventures.

Those would not be choices I make, but it is not up to me to decide how others raise their kids or spend their time. I also don't think anyone that is constantly texting is usually "constantly" texting it is always small bite size pieces of time here and there (i.e. right a couple of text,, go away come back a few minutes later read texts, send some more....". I get with the kids and OTA, sometimes they will say don't skip the ads I want to check my texts and reply, and by the time the ads are over (or a bit before and then " now skip") they are back watching the show.

I know you were joking but Stacey Spears got so put out with DV he quit fooling with it, got a madVR Envy and lets it do TM to his LG panel. Kris Deering uses a Lumagen with his JVC NZ9 projector for pretty much the same reason. Kaleidescape does not bother with DV, they do HDR10 only.
