Yeah you can buy a lot of apples with $696.75 million.

Or you could bury you company under $3 billion dollars worth of bricks.

It's not a question of which is more profitable until streaming is profitable.

You have lost sight of what the discussion was originally about, which was putting physical media up for sale BEFORE EST, which isn't done. It's the other way around.

Had absolutely nothing to do with streaming.

You have to stream EST so ... I would think it has something to do with streaming.
(Unless you like to download HD)

Jaws 2 came out on UHD before it was available on EST.

You are correct, I didn't answer the right question but when we talk about where it's released earlier I think of the online services because they tend to get it first. A TON of the stuff on online services isn't even fit for a physical release. It's not watchable and far from desirable.

You know when we discuss streaming we are talking about SVOD, AVOD and FAST. Trying to jam a round peg in a square hole doesn't work.

Name 3 more.

The discussion was EST versus PM. What charts on the Media Play News charts and the quarterly DEG reports.

Anything else is moving the goal posts or a Straw Man Argument.

iTunes movies are EST right ? .... But ... you have to stream them if you want to watch the 4K version ..... Is that FAST ? ...I don't remember what FAST was supposed to stand for.

Talk about moving the goal posts, you say something does not happen and I gave a recent example of it happening but you think I need to give 3 more examples in order to prove my point? Knowing you were wrong was good enough for me but If I think of more examples I'll get back to you.

Funny how it was not mentioned EST was down > 12% Q1 2023. Q2 info not available yet.

As to retailers paying for server cost of EST, need some hard evidence to that fact. I would believe the the process is complex for maintaining sever cost for EST and redeemed digital codes.

Will need to see if my few EST titles show up on other digital lockers. If they do then it would appear the studio is responsible for the cost upkeep.

Some CDN pricing here.

FAST = Free Ad Supported Television: Tubi, Roku, Filmrise, Freevee, etc.

Yes - you really do. A single example is nothing more than a Annamolly. If something happens once it is nothing more than the exception to the rule which is exactly the case here.

Wonder why there is no EST website like Blu-ray.COM? No sales data like there is for disc? And we know the big B&M's tried EST and apparently did not like it:

Apparently disc is more profitable for them than EST was.

It is published on a quarterly basis by the DEG. You know this but you decided not to mention it in your effort to talk down EST.

Correct, Apple iIunes, Amazon and Vudu kicked the shit out of them and proved they were in the wrong business. So they left.

No. I really don't.

I'm sure there are things that are on disc and not even available on streaming. But you thinking I owe you anything (including respect) just makes me laugh.

And a whole lot of content available on streaming that is not available on disc.

I see no weekly sales data like we get for disc. You appear to be blinded by your hatred of disc, I do wonder why no dedicated EST sites like this Blu-ray disc site and several others including several store sites.

Walmart owned Vudu for 10 years and dumped it but they still sell disc.

I have posted my streaming hardware investment cost ($2,637), feel free to post yours so that we may see how supportive you are of streaming.

Have posted before but will post again. This site, Blu-ray.COM earns a commission from Amazon when we click on a title and purchase a Blu-ray or UHD Blu-ray disc. We disc purchasers make this site possible, what do you anti-disc folks do for site support?

Therre has never been weekly sales numbers for EST - only for disc because Media Play News supports disc. First is was VHS, then DVD than BD.

Notice we don't get separate numbers for UHD-BD - they just include them in the BD numbers.

I am "blinded by my hatred for disc?" WTF are you talking about? Maybe YOU are blinded by your intense hatred for EST. Yep - I believe that is the answer.

And just so you know, I have NEVER EVER bought an EST. Yet in our household we have over 2000 discs. Bought Dr. Giggles on BD just last week.

They never should have bought it in the first place but they did. Vudu has done MUCH better without Walmart.

I do believe most members would much rather see positive post about title release, members hardware additions, home theater improvements than a few members constant sky is falling post. But it has been this way for a long time for some of us and most likely will not change.

What I don't understand is, why people, who have eschewed discs for streaming, spend so much time arguing with strangers on the internet, who prefer discs over streaming for various reasons, because they disagree with their choice of hobby, as though there is something detrimentally wrong with their choice of hobby. Is their some kind of superiority complex going on?

It's one thing to discuss the pros and cons of streaming and discs, but it's another thing to come to a website and forum dedicated to discs and, at least how it appears to me, troll and disparage others for their choice of hobby. If you have to resort to insults or demeaning language, you're probably not winning any discussions...
