Re: White and Carlos

I know you get $10 online credit when you send in White, but will they be doing that for Carlos, too? Will you get $20 credit when you send in both?

They only want you to send in the disc without the packaging. How are you guys sending the discs? What kind of packaging do you use?

Didn't you hear? Wes Anderson and Criterion struck a 100 year exclusivity deal in the hope that his children would also make movies that Criterion could add

If it's 100 years, I suppose it will also include his grand children

Looks good. Can't wait to see it. Some of the Anderson bashers on Facebook are pretty annoying. I don't get what's the point of bashing a trailer or a director for that matter. It's like if you know you don't WA films why bother watching the trailer? And why bother commenting?

Unfortunately, Criterion was unaware that Wes's family has had dysfunctional problems, and his children have all left film school to go off leading unsatsified lives raising ostrich farms and playing the accordion in Tibet, except for the annual holiday family reunion...

Just watched Three Colors: Red to conclude my initial viewing of the trilogy. Against the grain, Red is my least favorite of the trilogy. I thought that Blue and White were equally great, with Red a little behind. Still a fantastic film, and I enjoyed how the
[Show spoiler]whole trilogy was tied together by the ferry sinking.

Amazing trilogy! Criterion did a fantastic job. I need to watch the docs and the shorts next.

What about their reaction when you don't like or feel like a certain director is overrated? Have seen a lot of people praising Nolan, Fincher, Aronofsky, etc. and when somebody steps in and calls one of those "overrated", another five-six posters arrive to attack him like a bunch of killer whales toying with a poor seal . Can't understand the logic behind that.

Bashing a movie from a trailer and already expecting a Criterion release off a trailer is the same thing for me. Why doesn't Criterion posts trailers for all of the filmmakers in the Collection that has new movies?

"Certified Copy is a "minor" film, but wait, this Wes Anderson trailer needs some hype from us!" Criterion does one thing and the bashing from people is something else. But they are the same to me.

We will never let that one comment go ! But I agree with you, sometimes it feels like they forget about the "rest" of the Collection. Also, what about another Kiarostami release? Only two of them are in the Collection and while they described Certified Copy as minor I at least expected them to release what they consider "major" .

I had no idea they called it 'minor'....when was this? That just makes the choice of Tiny Furniture even stranger to me.

it was said that Mr. Becker called it "minor" but that wasn't my point in what I just said, even though it has turned into a Certified Copy discussion.

Got the replacement BD of WHITE today. As a curiosity, it clearly states "second printing" on the label, so it's easy to know if you've got the fixed pressing.

Apparently Peter Becker, the president of Criterion, told someone who told someone he didn't care much for the movie.

It sounds cool when you say it.

But what makes the complainer such a seal? Why didn't he pick something higher on the food chain when they were deciding on marine avatars?

Put it this way: if everyone liked every director, the ecosystem would collapse.

Won't someone think of the krill?!??

You can't assume you're going to get a $10 credit for Carlos just because Criterion is offering it for the White replacement.

Just send back the disc in a manila envelope or something. Use the cheapest packaging you can find. Heck, you could even wrap the disc in a piece of paper taped shut and send it back. It doesn't matter because I'm sure that all of the returned discs are being trashed by Criterion.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but does someone have the address that you send the defective White disk back to?

Info would greatly appreciated.

Edit:
I found the address a few pages back, thanks anyway.

Re: CERTIFIED COPY

I have owned the Artificial Eye for a while now. It is a nice disc and I don't think it cost me that much to import into the U.S. As far as I know a U.S. edition on either DVD or Blu ray has not been announced. So unless Criterion changes thier mind this may be the only Blu ray available to own.
