Yeah, these forums have been great to explore and try out new titles that would have otherwise flown under my radar. I especially like it when I get to obtain blind buys which I wouldn't have considered before I learned about them here! For me, at this point in time, physical media is just the natural way of watching video and, in the case of CDs, listening to music. (I also accept lossless hi-res digital downloads for music, and for video games I use Steam)

Anyway, these following months are supercharged for disc releases! Only between September and October this year I can count more releases I want to buy than fingers and toes I have. October 10, in particular, is especially stacked, boy, with the date marking the celebratory arrival of Rise of the Beasts to home video, the legendary Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs making its 4K UHD debut, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions receiving a new complete set, and Universal bestowing the 4K UHD honor to M3GAN. To get a head start, I already preordered the Best Buy exclusive 4K SteelBook of M≡GAN, 'cause I'm just a huge sucker for premium packaging in general. In order to qualify for free shipping, I paired it with the triumphant Blu-ray release of Cats Don't Dance (which comes out the same day, September 26, as Lonely Castle in the Mirror, another key title I preordered earlier), because it was a little cheaper on Best Buy than Amazon. I haven't previously watched any of these three, but always when I buy any title, I'm 100% confident I will be approaching peak cinema/television with it, or them depending on how many I buy at a time.

Hang on a second, so this means...

[Show spoiler]

Y E S ! ! !

I FINALLY DID IT!!!

I finally reached the milestone! I now have 100 permanent Blu-ray SKUs in my ever-growing collection! I'm so excited! Oh boy, I can't wait to tell my granny about this!!

Yes, that's the point. Streaming only looks attractive because it's funded on investments with massive losses. As soon as it has to stand on its own two feet, like discs, cinema, and television did, then suddenly it can't sustain itself without all these measures. So it's pointless to talk about streaming now when comparing to other means to watch films because it's not really a fair comparison. Come back in the a few years and maybe people will get tired of all the BS.

You keep asking why people pay so much for discs yet lament streaming increases. But there are many benefits of discs: better audio and visual quality, bonus features, and, most importantly, the ability to watch it whenever you want without the risk of it being removed or edited. I'm pretty sure a lot of the titles posted here aren't even on streaming services. That's what people are paying for.

I recently used someone's Disney+ account and wanted to watch the Quiz Show because it only has an OOP Blu Ray from Australia. Turns out Disney+ removed it (probably because of lack of interest). Yay. I can rent it on iTunes but I don't have an Apple TV

Not that I usually promote digital purchases, but you can "buy" Quiz Show in HD from Vudu for $4.99 on sale right now. It is also a Movies Anywhere title, so it should port to all of the other digital stores.

https://www.vudu.com/content/browse/...uiz-Show/14244

It's about the price of a rental, so nothing much to lose by getting it.

I think this is not available in the UK. I used JustWatch to check this by they way and here you have to pay £10 to buy vs £3.50 to rent. My hope is Disney sells a lot of its movie catalogue since it needs the money and it doesn't look like they are doing anything with a lot of it. Might be far fetched but Warner is doing it and I think they will get desperate.

Brian has a single goal - to get me perma-banned. So no, I am not going to respond to his post. But I will tell you this. It looks suspiciously like a post that I did respond to in another thread by another member right before my last ban.

Like I said - THAT'S ALL FOLKS.

Does anyone here have a Kaleidescape? It seems like a rather expensive alternative to discs, but supposedly this thing offers full 4K Blu-ray quality streams.

I doubt anyone would want to see you permanently banned, even though you rub people up the wrong way sometimes.

Not sure No Hard Feelings was a flop. An R rated comedy almost breaking even with VOD, disc and SVOD still to come isn’t so bad.

Do you really think they're satisfied with "almost breaking even" In a year where a 3-hour R rated period biopic made over 800 million worldwide? I'm sure they thought this movie would be huge with Jennifer Lawrence being naked in it and it being a bit of a throwback raunchy film.

I think that maybe forum member sapiendut does.

There is also this thread about Kaleidescape where you might find some other members that own this wildly expensive system:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=345757

I can't believe that I just posted a link to one of HDTV1080p's threads.

I am no one else. I can assure you I have one account here.

I would like you to be friendlier. I'll try to be my best version of me. I think we can both do better for everyone's sake.
