Yes... I was there.... I know I said what that guy said ...

My quote is similar because I think he nailed it.

We can be all about the facts without being aggressive and abrasive. I'm going to try to be helpful and post useful things.

I will try to focus on the topic and no particular person. I think that's going to work better and I am willing to improve.

An R rated comedy? Yeah, sure. It will do well with digital rentals and on Blu-ray. Long term will be fine. These type of films have decent bounce on home media.

Joyride on the other hand, flopped hard!

@Wendell, Planet Earth 3 confirmed for BBC later this year, so 4K disc should arrive early next year.

It’s the final part of the trilogy and will be hosted by David Attenborough once more.

And writing nonsense - you should know - you do it all the time. Nothing but speculation which you believe props up your argument but it doesn't. Nothing but a Strawman Arguments.
You are missing the point because you are too busy making a ludicrous claim. I never said there is a viable alternative and you and the other tenants are not trapped accepting paying 200$ more without a working pool that is the point. But if there was an apartment that you liked for the old price in less then a year the move would pay for itself, so yes it is "that easy" it is the same with streaming yes it is easy to cancel but the replacement will cost just as much with all the same annoyances that is making them decide to cancel the one they have. What you need to do is not tell those people "just cancel it" but tell them where they can find a subscription service today that costs 7.99 and where all 6 members of the family can watch different stuff at the same time while some are at home and the others at the cottage.

ps what happened to the house you bought some time back and you built a fence?

Another issue with ad supported streaming services is that most advertising revenue is coming from short form content now and that is almost certain to multiply as short form becomes the default way to watch content (hopefully at least two decades away but will probably be much closer.)

Where do they go when that’s the case?

no, the person probably spent 1500 a month the year before and 5 years before and 10 years before that and 20 years ago(if he has been buying that long)

on the other hand if someoen paid 20$ last month and this month it is 24$ that is a 20% increase a month that he was not expecting. You were just complaining about a 200$ increase for rent, what percent increase is that.

You're back to predicting that short form content will take over? Even after Quibi's spectacular failure?

They want $25 for Meg 2 and Last Voyage of the Demeter on digital 4K. That is steep as hell. I would also be blind buying them, so will wait until the 4K discs are released and on sale a bit. Those should be on sale for BF.

I have always believed it. Quibi was just premium paid content, user created free stuff is still hugely popular and what’s massively popular for younger generation ends up dominating. Heck, Youtube shorts is taking off on smart TVs, so it’s not just young people. Attention spans are decreasing.

Plus, short form has a lot of marketing clout behind it.

TikTok, Instagram, and YT all seem to thrive on short form content, mainly TiKTok. From what I remember of Quibi, they were just 7-10 minutes of content at a time. No for it to be valid short form content it has to be less than a minute.

I hate reruns and you go and dredge up these two chestnuts of all the many things that you have falling down from the sky to end life as we know and enjoy it.

If a three hour long biopic like Oppenheimer can become a box office hit in 2023 then I am confident that long form content is just fine. Plenty of young people with their intact attention spans saw it with me at the the theater, too.

If you keep on with this tangent I think I will just go back to bed.

My limit with most youtube drivel is 5 minutes or less. I like epics.

Luckily short form has about as much lasting cultural relevancy as its running time.

you forgot not having to pay again to re-watch and always having somethingh you are interested in to watch.

and for me being able to share. My youngest sister and her family were here yesterday. She said her son will be reading "La Planète des singes" from Pierre Boulle and they walked out with all 9 "Planet Of The Apes" films with a warning that only the original was the closest to the book but there were still some major differences. And I was not harassed for sharing and asked to pay more
