Curious, do you think putting some in HSU subs would be good? I would think they'd know what is best about their design. Can too much be bad?

I put some in my car sub box back in the day when I had 2 12" Boston Pro Series sealed, but never tried it without it for comparison

Quick questions guys regarding speaker placement. Do the fronts need to be behind the center, or both fronts and center should be aligned together when they are facing the audience. I hope this make sense.

It's not a guaranteed success to tell you the truth, this keeps more heat on the driver and you don't want it to get to hot, also the bigger the box is the least effective it is, another thing is that if you put too much it will eat up too much space and may result in a reverse effect which could actually decrease the low end extension.

Thanks for the input BigAl. If I ever do something in my car again I may experiment. I'll leave my HSU MBM12 as is as I love the sound.

you would be fine with the Polks, eventually if you want and can find some RC-minis or RC-10s, that would be ideal, or just get a pair of Energy CB-10s, for surrounds theyd be fine.

I'm goin gto try that too! If you look at my gallery you will see my LCR propped up on.....two rolls of packing tape with a thin sheet of cardboard to protect the speaker from sticky residue. How Ghetto!!!!!

you shouldn't put more then 1 lb per cubic foot, I used 1 lb in roughly 3 cubic feet and too me it was enough to make a change for the good. You can see that I didn't use much, there is still plenty of open space for the air travel. In my case it reduced the resonance that I was getting, my sub goes to 18 hz, for your Mid-Bass Module Monkey, you probably dont need any.

you can also buy Arualex iso pads that have a slant to them if you would rather do that.

I think most will say aligned, but that all depends on how much space the speaker needs to sound accurate. In your case, I would at least align them to the front of the TV stand.

Thanks for that info. I did experiment a bit and found that it did not make that much difference when I tilted it up some. It sounds fine facing straight on. I put a couple of CD's under it to tilt it up just to see how it would sound but I didn't notice any drastic change, not enough to justify it anyway.
I'm watching Apollo 13 now it sounds terrific.

Hehe...I'm reading up on all the posts about your new speakers. Reminds me of when I got all 3 LCR's in place.

Congrats Miker, MaCruz and Jwilly on your new upgrades! Many years of listening enjoyment await you.

I have just unscrewed my sub from it's box and it does have some Polyfill already glued on each side of the cabinet, the rear is the circuit board for the amp so no need to fill anymore than that and it does sound great, the voice coil as Energy state is really 1.75 inches which is as big as the 4 Inch Torrent driver from Totem .

The Magnet is a decent size but not huge i wonder if I put a JL Sub in there how it's gonna sound.

Had to cancel my AMZ order on that monitor stand. The LCR was slightly taller so the shelf won't fit

Yeah, it sounds perfect Just need to get a sub again though for the low end, more just chatting about that. Dude I bought the MBM12 MKII from had 4 ULS-15's!!! I didn't have time to listen to them but his room was not big at all (maybe 20 feet by 15 feet to be generous)

Anyone know where I can find a pair of RC-Rs? New or used? I know they are discontinued, but I'm ready to upgrade my surrounds, and was hoping I could find some to match with my RC-50s and RC-LCR center.

To add on to what Steve said, I would make sure the drivers on the 30s are out past the TV stand. Even if it's just an inch beyond, you'll have fewer reflections from the TV/stand.

Well , I'm in ... RC-50's and RC-LCR center Now the waiting game! It will be interesting to hear the difference between my polk m-70s/cs-2 and the Energy speakers.
Anyone with the RC-50 care to measure the base of the tower.. I want to build risers for them, and I'm getting different dimensions from various venders... Thanks and looking forward to my next step in this growing addiction...

My RC-30s are just a tad out in front of the TV and stand. Maybe an inch or two thats it. My biggest problem is reflections off of the wall unit next to my left speaker. New house ....HT room..... someday......
