Default Long time scince I been here

I see everyone getting new setups, congratulations. Ive had my RC-30's, LCR, and 10.3 sub for about a year now and I need more power. I have a Pioneer 1019, and while I love the ease of use and sound, I can shut it down when watchn a movie at high volumes. Id have to get rid of the Pioneer cuz there are no outputs and ive never really looked at amps but im pretty sure one would be necessary. Something value minded. Any ideas or info would be appreciated.

Anyone with the RC-50 care to measure the base of the tower.. I want to build risers for them, and I'm getting different dimensions from various venders... Thanks and looking forward to my next step in this growing addiction...
Check out this link/post, this guy also had Monitor 70s and then bought the RC-50s

OK, so that is a decent budget, here are a few suggestions. All of whick have enough power to power your speakers without an amp if you so choose. They also have excellent sound quality.

NAD 747 $800
Integra 40.2 $1000 list, you can get it for $800-900 at most dealers
Integra 7.9 $650, you could call them to see if they will ship to you.
Onkyo 1008 $850
Marantz 6005 $650

I thaught your receiver had no preouts

XPA is the best line of Emotiva I have not tried it personally so cannot recommend it, alot of people are buying them and are quite happy considering their price they are known to offer tremendous value but I personally would not buy it.

Now in your case you could give it a try as it retails at 699$ at Emotiva. I twould release stress on your next receiver.
475$ if you think you need an amp to pair with the receiver then it could be agreat investment.

Now let me ask how much breathing space does your 1019 has to drive those RC? I know they do love power but they are not usually super demanding to be well driven.

I have never heard an Emo Amp. Around the forums they get good feedback. From people that I truly trust, I hear they are as good as most of the mid-range comercial amps

In the first post I mention I would have to get rid of the Pioneer to do this. The receiver has nothing above it for about 15" and nothing behind for about the same. It has has a 10" fan on top sucking air up and out also to help it stay cool ( I have 3 4" fans on back of my tv also,, Im a "fan" of keeping things running cool,, no pun intended). I am running 7.1 so maybe disconnecting a rear set would relive some stress. Thanks for the info guys. Ill start checkin up on those receivers callas, thanks.

all of those receiver I posted are what I am considering for my new receiver as well, and my speakers are harder to drive then even your RC-50s, believe it or not.

That is fine I understand I was just concern about your budget does the 8-9 hundred include the amp or this just for a new receiver?
And yes this is plenty of breathing space.

I like Callas suggestions.

Default On the fence about buying an amp.

I was considering getting an Emotiva XPA 3 to power my Energy cf-50's and cc-10. Do you think I would hear a significant improvement in sound quality? I know the cf line is Energy's entry level line so I am unsure if it would be worth the investment. I would go from approx. 50 watts per channel from my Pioneer vsx 1120-k to 200 watts per channel from the XPA 3. The speakers can handle up to 250 watts rms (cf50) and 200 rms for the cc-10. Any suggestions?

For sure sound would improve you would have more headroom and just make a great differece in the low end I am pretty positive about that altho I have never heard the Emo, I believe it would outperform the Pioneer receiver for sure. Many members are happy with the Emo amps and the XPA is their best line. I know a member who has noticed a difference just from the UPA line.

It would not be my choice in my situation but to make those CF sound better I think it's well worth it's asking price from all the positive feedback we get here.

I read that I have to buy 12v triggers also to add an amp. I'm not exactly sure how this works. Are they expensive?

My XPA-3, and UPA-5 came with trigger cables.... As long as your AVR has the capability to do this.
