Ordered the Exorcist 4K disc after all via BB for in-store pick-up, but will probably not get to watch it until tomorrow or the day after.
Next week is a fully loaded week, though: Natural Born Killers 4K disc Interview with a Vampire S1 BD Star Trek Prodigy S1 E11 - E20 |

Watched Fall yesterday and I'm glad I upgraded from the rated edition on Blu Ray. PQ and AQ are a big step up from the previous release.
Also glad I didn't upgrade Promising Young Woman even though I love the movie the UHD is defective and needs to have a recall. I need to look for Natural Born Killers. I love my Blu and maybe the UHD is all of that and more. With all the new Apple software released this week (MacOS, IOS,iPadOS, WatchOS and TVOS) I decided to review the ever changing terms of service. They really put it clear now. No one owns iTunes content. You can buy it ... and it may be there for you. I have very old things in my iTunes. But ... it's here today gone tomorrow. That's the future sheep seem to want. They can have it. https://www.apple.com/legal/internet.../us/terms.html YOU AGREE THAT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW, APPLE HAS NO RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTINUE MAKING CONTENT AVAILABLE TO YOU THROUGH OUR SERVICES, AND APPLE WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU IF CONTENT, INCLUDING PURCHASED CONTENT, BECOMES UNAVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD, REDOWNLOAD, OR STREAMING. I'm going to try to stop reminding people who would prefer to ignore the facts about you know .... the facts. If streaming is the future I'm glad I was around for the past. If physical media is going away I say get it while you can. Last edited by bhampton; 09-21-2023 at 10:52 AM. |

I just hope it doesn't get to that point where you can't get it, period. I mean why am I paying the same prices for a digital copy when I don't even have control over it? I would be more likely to buy a digital copy if the prices were lower (like $2-3 for a movie). The fact that rentals are $4-6 is ridiculous to me. I can usually buy a Blu-ray or DVD used for that price.

An Xbox leak revealed the mid-generation Xbox release won't have any disc drive at all (for the same price...). Microsoft really pushing the discless future and subscription services like gamepass. That also was very cheap initially but it is a trojan horse for them to have total control over everything you buy and preventing you from being able to buy used, sell, etc, and keeping you in their ecosystem. Not gonna fall for that.
A lack of drive is a problem though for movie buyers since that was a large driver in both DVD (with PS2) and Blu Ray (with PS3). I had PS3 as a Blu Ray player for years, so that's a shame. I hope Sony does continue with the drive because they have some skin in the game. |

Seems like nobody is interested in selling, everyone wants you to subscribe. Netflix disc by mail has always saved me money so I will continue now with GameFly.

Subscriptions keep the money rolling in weather people use them or not.
I can see why the desperate greedy folks with too much money that think they need more prefer to have everything be subscriptions. It's literally pay by the minute. I'm cancelling mine and trying to use the ones I keep so that I'm ready to cancel them soon. -Brian |

When I do "buy" a digital copy I typically only pay $5-$10 for it and that includes 4K digital copies of newer movies.
I criticize digital for many reasons, and the lack of control over what is "purchased" ranks very high among them, but the one thing I can't complain about are the prices. $5-$10 for a digital copy is damn cheap even if it does turn out to be just a long term rental. |
