Same here, not just that, I couldn’t get a console to actually work back in the day. Bought a Xbox 360 (which I loved as it was first experience of HD gaming) but the disc drive was faulty, swapped it for another new console, same problem. Gave it one more chance but after a month, the disc drive started failing again. I gave up and switched back to Sony with the PS3. The PlayStations are very reliable disc players in my opinion, I use PS3,4 and now 5 as spare players when I fancy 3D films or want to watch something in bedroom.

Steedeel,

If you haven't seen it, Meg Tilly in The Girl in a Swing (1988) is worth watching even on the dreadful Tubi. I saw it in theaters.

Not saying that I'm still infatuated with her but I did watch The Big Chill this morning and ordered Masquerade. (Ok... I am still infatuated with her - She's charming.)

I think the thing that will really be the end of steaming is just how freaking terrible the experience is. That is if anyone is paying any attention.
My prime membership becomes even poorer value for money (no longer get pre orders on release day).

Will keep a close eye on that one thanks. Sadly, we don’t get Tubi.

It still works out to $69 to import from Amazon.uk; not worth it IMO.

If I were willing to spend $70 for the sequels on 4K disc ($23.33 each) then this would be the route to go, but the 2017 blu-ray set is only $16.95 ($5.65 each) and that makes much more sense considering my mild interest in seeing them.

And she's an expert poker player.

EDIT - Oops, my mistake. Meg is not a poker player, Jennifer Tilly is. Threw me right off!

Yeah, that is technically the best deal should you want to sample the set. Also, they're not even the Shout Factory masters either. I believe they're just the standard Universal ones.

I probably will end up getting the Arrow set in the coming weeks.

If you are, get your pre order in. It’s been tricky getting titles on release day lately and I’m pretty sure Amazon are getting lower levels of stock these days. That’s why I slammed in a pre order for Hellraiser boxset in 4K.

I'll probably be going through DD for a set.

I have my Hellraiser set secured.

I love horror movies, too, but that doesn't mean that I love all of them. The horror genre is often guilty of serving up some pretty lame sequels.

My interest in the Psycho sequels is almost entirely due to the cast involved.

Oh, and I have no intention of buying The Wicker Man on 4K disc, either. I am content with my blu-ray set.

Psycho 2 is far from lame, trust me. I would go as far to say it’s one of the best sequels to a classic in the horror genre.

Digital does have some amazing deals ocasionally. Right now the complete smallville series is 14.99.

That rivals some of the best deals I have gotten physically and even i would be all over that if i had not already bought the series on Blu ray for 85 which included a digital copy on vudu.

"They" usually say the presence of ads won't affect the content (TV-M/R etc.) but I am skeptical.

I subscribe to their sister service which is a free AVOD (Freevee) and I see no editing of content at all. No reason why Amazon Prime Video should be any different.

I see no reason for them to shorten the content offered, especially seeing as the number of ads that they show is probably a function of the program's length. The longer the movie, the more ads they get to shove in your face.

IIRC, the Demolition Man movie (USA version) could only get Taco Bell to agree to appear (the other restaurant chains didn't want to be associated with an R rated movie).

In 2023, will mainstream brands want their ads in TV-M/R rated streamed content?

Are you speaking from experience or just speculating? My experience with Freevee doesn't match yours. It all depends on WHEN you watch their content. Watch in the middle of the nite - very few ads. During the day - yes ads every 10-15 minutes.

Remember this is not Linear TV. No time constraints. Content starts when it starts and has nothing to do with what time it is.

I would guess it depends on the product. Some can be literally part of the movie and the corporation doesn't care about the rating. Others would be very sensitive due to the age restriction on R/MA rated movies.
