Greed is the name of the game and there are few companies that are too proud to beg these days. Gofundme, Patreon and other things have firmly established the best way to make money these days is to ask someone else for it and it works really well. If there's anything people won't do these days it's have a thought of their own.

Wealthily people have the time and money and it's more lurcritive now to take money than to make money. It's all kind of sad but I try to look at the bright side as much as possible.

Prey (2022) - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review here.

Another example where disc is awesome and streaming sucks, we get an excellent Atmos audio mix over the 5.1 track Hulu is currently rolling with. From the jump, this track is immersive and exciting with a lovely LFE range. From the impacts of the tomahawk into the trees to when the Predator ship enters the atmosphere, there’s much more heft and weight in the subs than the streaming experience. Pinpoint object placement is particularly immersive through this mix with the sounds of nature moving throughout the soundscape. Height channels get their time to shine with sounds of birds and wildlife flying about, but also early on when the Predator is observing people from the trees, those extra little cackles or swish of a tree branch really hits. When the French trappers lay their big trap, that sequence is dynamite!

Saw where Amazon Prime will start inserting ads beginning 2024. Will have to pay extra for no ads.

Bumped up my GameFly plan to include UHD BD and have that version of Prey in my queue. Have several so-so titles in my collection because they have a knockout sound track.

Remember this is not Linear TV. No time constraints. Content starts when it starts and has nothing to do with what time it is.

My experience with AVOD is mostly with Tubi and I have not noticed the frequency of ads varying with the time of day that I watch something. I usually watch movies and TV shows between the hours of 7 PM-12 AM, so outside of that time range I have no idea.

My main point was that I see no reason for an AVOD to shorten the content that they offer. As you said, they have no time constraints. If they show an ad, for example, every 15 minutes that would be 8 ads per two hour movie; why would they want to shorten the movie and thereby reduce the number of ads shown? Showing ads is where they make their money.

I have a hard time imagining how this super assassin alien Predator creature could be outwitted and defeated by people of that time period armed with such primitive weapons.

Picked this up used for like $8 recently:



Looks terrible imo, like an upscaled DVD. Does anyone know where I can get a decent Blu-ray of Karate Kid Part III for a reasonable price? I see the 4K is OOP, is there just a regular Blu-ray edition that uses the same master? Thanks.

I have only had one Mill Creek release before of "Last Action Hero" which was garbage and gladly replaced it with the Sony remaster. Are all their Blu-rays this bad?

I saw the same review and thought about sharing as well. Can’t wait for this and thrilled we are seeing this release. It needs to be supported so we can show the decision makers that they chose wisely.

Amazon wants an extra $2.99 per month to stream ad free over and above their current Prime membership rates ($139 per year if paid annually) beginning sometime next year. Amazon Prime is less and less of a value to me every year.

Amazon Prime used to offer free two day shipping in the beginning back in 2005; now it's just free shipping: orders arrive when they arrive. It can take a week now for me to receive what used to take only 2 days. They also used to have a next day shipping option for $3.99 per item, but they took that option away years ago.

Seeing as Amazon offers free shipping to everyone if you spend $35 or more, I see very little reason to renew my Prime membership next year. I never much cared about the other junk that Prime membership has added over the years. What I cared about, the free two day shipping, is long gone.

I'm glad that this appeals to you, but this movie sounds so silly to me that I need to see it before I would consider buying it. Maybe it could be demoed for me in someone's extraordinary home theater?

I'm at the point now where I'm not buying anything ever again unless "The Abyss" gets a Blu-ray release or a boutique label releases something that I think I'll watch more than a handful of times.

Mill Creek, aka Swill Creek, is a bargain priced label that puts minimal to no effort in their releases. Their quality control is practically non-existent. Some of their releases are passable while others can be outright terrible. You should ALWAYS wait for reviews, or read these forums, before buying their blu-rays.

They can't even get the spelling right on their disc menus:

Boycotting blu-rays until they release the blu-ray that you most want will certainly send the message that they should release more titles on the format. I'm sure they'll get the message loud and clear.

Well the two Basic Streaming Providers are Amazon Prime and Netflix, then for My Collection are Vudu, MA, and I like Hulu. As for the Future of Discs, the Studios will keep making them as long as there is a decent Profit!
