My mistake, yes part 2. Odd to release this with no original though. As a third part is planned, I will skip it until all films are available (if they ever are).

I’m a bit out of control at the moment, ordered Cabin Fever 1-3 and remake along with Amityville Horror, part 2, part 3 in 3D and remake, all Blu-ray.

Some of them straight to DVD fare, but sometimes those movies are fun. Haven’t seen Cabin Fever sequels or remake and can’t remember Amityville 2.

I need to cool it a bit now, it’s way too easy to press the buy button.

Yeah, whenever I got to town I tend to come back with 3 or more movies I wasn't planning on but could not pass up.

The stores here still have them on sale. Death Proof is STILL $6.99

Good haul there.

In my case, I’m having to import some German versions so expense is a little higher than usual.

Have that one in 3-D and stay with that version.

Fair play, I am hoping Amityville 3D is decent, although the real appeal was part 2 as I haven’t seen it for decades. Also, I have a vast horror collection including all the quality haunted house/possession movies like The Others, The Changeling, Hereditary, The Orphanage, The Conjuring, but no Amityville which didn’t feel quite right.

Netflix needs to raise prices again.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Goodbye and good luck Netflix.

How long will the users support higher prices for a lower quality experience ?

It’s not even worth getting invested in anything other than mini series, docs and short span series with the way they chop stuff so frequently.

I will only re subscribe to Netflix for season 5 of Stranger Things, then cancel again. Hopefully at that time, the company won't require a longer subscription period. I'm down to 3 streaming services, but honestly If these price increases become more frequent, I'll cancel. There is less content that is interesting to watch these days. Thankfully, we still have physical which has offered a lot of great releases this year.

We are all done with Netflix, they would have to have something really good to sub again. If Wednesday returns then we will wait till all episodes are available, sub for a month, watch all then cancel.

Joe and Jane Sixpack do not care about quality. They care about choice and connivence. Always have. Always will.

No one is talking about AV quality. They are talking about price (going up), ads (increasing), things being removed and moved around. None of those things help with choice and convenience. All I see is less choice and less convenience for a higher price.

Netflix DVD had 100k films, Netflix now has 4k films. Real upgrade there.

One thing I've noticed is the disc rental I use (CinemaParadiso) allows me to search their catalogue without logging in, in other words without having an account. The streamers don't provide that useful functionality. I have to check JustWatch for that information. I wonder why...

That being said I usually check this only to see how much I would have to pay or what I would have to use to get a title that the disc service has. The number of streaming services I've learned of using this method that I'd never heard of is staggering. Right now I am renting Dekalog. Not available on any streamer in the UK.

Trying to force people to take the ad supported model imo. Very nice of them.

That's what YOU see. J & J see something different. They are choosing AVOD and FAST services to save money. They are not bothered by the ads.

Each month content comes and goes. Been that way since Day 1.

You do realize that the services know to the viewer who is watching what. If nobody is watching specific content - they remove it. Or licenses expire and the content moves to a different service as new license deals start.

J & J are probably like me: 2 SVODs and 4 FAST. Out of pocket money each month: Less than $30. They churn SVODs.

It's not what I see. It's what's happening. Prices are going up and will continue to go up on all tiers, probably FAST services will have more adverts or will continue to be a dumping ground for things they can get for cheap. Not saying that means things on there are necessarily bad, but I think it makes it more likely. Yeah if you don't care about film as an artistic medium maybe this suits you but then why would you be happy about this? Do you actually care? Doesn't sound like you do.

Except when streamers such as Disney+ removed things that they made from the face of the Earth. That hasn't happened since day 1. I really do think you don't care about that because of your use of the word "content." It's corporate BS speech that has invested everyday speech. TikTok videos and films are not the same thing, and shouldn't be under the same word. It devalues the medium.

I doubt there is anything "no one" is watching. You mean few people. So there is nothing you like that is not super popular and hence at risk of being removed?

Right except that $30 is going up and will keep going up. That's the point.

I've never really used those FAST services and I'm not about to start, but going through Pluto TV it didn't inspire hope when the "Electra" film was featured as a pick. I like to decide what I want to see not be dictated. How is this any different from TV in the past? So yes it's basically cable again.

Edit: their movie list looks more like a DVD bargain bin selection. Didn't TV used to show good films as well?

Still can't feel bad for them but I'm getting there.

There is a critical difference between someone who consumes what they want and someone who sees what is on.

But, it takes all types in this world. We need the zombies. Kind of like we need the bees.

No - I don't care. Why would I? I pay nothing - ZERO - for those 4 FAST services. There is TONS of content on them. More than I can watch - that's for sure. And one man's junk is another man's treasure.

Once again, I don't care. I don't subscribe to Disney+. I don't own any Disney stock. I don't go to any of the Disney parks. The corporation could go out of business tomorrow and I wouldn't shed a single tear.

The service makes that determination. It's obvious as the nose on your face - which you can't see unless you cross your eyes, that the hosting companies like AWS are raising their prices too. Why not. Everything else is going up in price.

Quote:

When it gets to $50, I'll drop Peacock. But I will remain with Paramount+ even if it's $50 all by itself. All my TV shows are there. It's my money and I will spend it as I see fit. Just like the people here are spending $200 to $500 a month feeding their new disc habits. They don't complain. Do they ever watch the same movie more than 2X? I strongly doubt it with the size of their collections.

Cable has ALWAYS cost money. FAST services like Freevee, Tubi, Roku and Filmrise are free. The first 3 have original content. The last is a "dumping ground" but there are some gems to watch.

Amazing that you have an opinion about something (FAST) yet you have no real experience with them.
