If there is pressing error that’s caused by metal oxidation then yes. I’ve had CDs that used to play OK for many years, then I played it again several years later and the disc is totally can’t be recognized by the player (a different but newer player)

I thought since we have the same player maybe that could be it. I've checked the firmware and it's up to date so i don't know. When I first put the disc in the player it took a while for the menu to show up. And when it did all that was on screen was the options at the bottom with a black screen.

Anyway, recent reviews on Amazon are saying that the disc won't even start on some Samsung and Sony players, just a black screen. |

I'm having the same issues with the 4K disc on a Panasonic 820 (latest firmware), with a recent Amazon purchase.
I wonder if there was bad batch of discs or something. |

Got my replacement copy today and it stops at the 58:05 mark. It's like there's no information after that point. I chapter skipped all the way to the end. I even went thru the scene selections and nothing after chapter 9 works.
The numbers on the bar code's are the same. 0 31398 26447 7 |

Checking the recent reviews on Amazon and it appears there are a bunch more people with the same issue. Definitely appears to be a bad batch of discs.

I got 2 discs from Amazon (original buy and replacement) both stopped at 58:05. I have an Oppo 203, and have had the same experience that others have listed here. It's like there is nothing on the disc after 58:05. I took my disc and player to Oppo in Menlo Park, and we played the disc on multiple players and it does the same thing. Tony the tech I consulted with said it must be a bad batch of discs.....

If you use the Chapter Select from the main menu to skip directly to a post-58:05 chapter, I assume it freezes as well? For example, going directly to the final chapter that should contain the credits.
Looking at the bottom of the disc, can you see the two different circular barcodes towards the center, indicating the two layers of the disc that should be there? If absolutely nothing on the latter half of the movie is accessible, it almost seems like the entire second layer is defective/missing. |

Same. I actually watched this the other night (damn fine looking disc, btw) and had no issues. Haven't had any issues since its release.
