No. The Weinsteins also tried to force them on Martin Scorsese.

Martin Scorsese dislikes Sarah Michelle Gellar and Sarah Polley even more than Cameron Diaz.

And what specific reason are you hinting at for the Weinsteins wanting Cameron Diaz? I have a feeling it’s rather shady.

Scorsese has said that there would be no other cut of "Gangs of New York".

At the time of its release, there was tons of speculation, amid rumors of it having originally been much longer, that there would be a 'Director's Cut' version for home video later. Scorsese said then that there would be no other cut.

In general, he disagrees with having multiple cuts.

Wow. I have been reading the book, now. These events were even much crazier than I thought.

Now, that one movie still we've had all this time takes on a whole other level of meaning that is absolutely chilling and heartbreaking.

Pretty sure that will be a famous scene after the film comes out.

I wonder if we may get a teaser for this close to Cannes time?

Not so bad. I watched The Irishman in one sitting (at home) without any problems.

I watched The Irishman in a theater with Martin Scorsese personally introducing the movie.

I've seen it several times. It actually gets brisker paced with each subsequent viewing, as well. It's sort of become an annual Thanksgiving (US) tradition for me, LOL. It originally was released the day before the US Thanksgiving holiday in 2019. Then, the Criterion blu ray was released two days before the next Thanksgiving in 2020. So, now I watch it every year right before Thanksgiving. I watch it other times, too. I think I've seen it 15 times, in total, since 2019. Although there were, I believe, at least three times where I watched it in parts over a couple of days. I can quote it, now.

But, that's nothing. I've seen things like "GoodFellas", "Casino", "The Last Temptation of Christ", "Taxi Driver", and others dozens and dozens of times over the decades. I've even seen "Silence" 5 times.

I've also watched other really long films like "Once Upon a Time in America" and "1900" in one sitting before, too.

I should be fine with this one. But, for the theaters, it would be nice to have an intermission in there, though I doubt that there will be one.

I just hope it's a masterpiece.

Wow, I tip my hat to you for watching 1900 in one go. The longest film I watched without breaks (not counting the seconds it took me to swap the discs) is Rivette's La belle noiseuse.

That one had an intermission in theatres (at least when it played in the US in the 90s)

I saw the four hour version of it in 1977 in a theater, and it too had that same intermission, in the same spot.

Later, in the 90s, I saw the longer cut only at home, and I sat through it in one go.

The DVD and the blu ray have that intermission, too. It's good that Bertolucci put the break where he thought it should be. It's always right after the Donald Sutherland cat scene. I watched the DVD when I first got in back in 2006 in one, epic go, too. Finally, on the blu ray, I watched it over two nights. That one is, I believe, 5 hours and 11 minutes in the uncut version.

I think the longer cut of "Once Upon a Time in America" has an intermission, too. But it comes rather late in the film, which was always kind of strange to me.

When I watched "The Irishman" as a two part, two night mini-series, I put the break a good bit over the halfway mark. I would stop watching at the 2:07 mark, right after De Niro asks Pacino to present an award to him, and they share a laugh. "Part Two" would begin the next evening, with the big awards dinner sequence, which is kind of the centerpiece to the whole film, and then would run till the end. "Part One" was 2 hours, 7 minutes, and and "Part Two" was 1 hour, 22 minutes. On a few occasions where I didn't have 3 1/12 hours laying around, I'd watch "The Irishman" like this.

But I made sure to watch it in one sitting the first couple of times.

Bertolucci?

I was talking about La belle noiseuse. It was a brand new movie in the early 90s, and I was lucky enough to catch it at a press screening.

The best thing about a press screening at an indie theater is that the intermission lasts as long as the critics wish

Oh, sorry. I thought we were discussing "1900", LOL. That was the one Cremildo tipped his hat to me for watching in one sitting, LOL. Sorry, I misunderstood. (BTW, the longer cut of "1900" was re-released in 1991).

Yes, he started talking about 1900 and then mentioned that La belle noisieuse was the longest one he'd ever seen without breaks.

Which I thought was ironic because it played with an intermission in theaters that ranged between 15-20 minutes (depending on how crowded the theater was)

"Killers of the Flower Moon" really is a big story. It will take some time to tell.

I've been reading the book, and man, this was a bigger and longer lasting a series of events than I had thought.

I would imagine it will be episodic.

LongestI've ever watched without a break is 209min cut of Das Boot (by no break I would have had a pee break, but that doesn't count ). I'm up for 3.5 hours if it's good.
