My Disc # 7 (Deadly Venoms/Crippled Avengers) has a weird little defect on the surface of the disc; front and back, roughly in the same spot. It was rough enough to keep me from removing the disc from the packaging without a struggle. I now need to remember to make sure that spot is facing out and not going into the pouch; I certainly don't want to damage the packaging. Thankfully, the rough spot only seems to be cosmetic and it's not affecting the playback of the movies so far. I would need to double-check all the extras to confirm 100% that it doesn't affect them. That is the only disc in my Volume One collection that has a physical defect. Keeping fingers crossed that there are no issues with any of the discs in the set.

Sorry about the blurry picture. The rough spot is at the end of the printed lettering, located inside the line that goes from right to left. The shiny side is pretty easy to see what I am talking about.

Shaolin Temple:
Random screenshots from the movie. No HD comparison pictures for this title. Screen titles/credits on the Region 3 dvd were yellow instead of white. No subs for the Chinese text seen in this scene (the second picture). But, to be fair, the old Region 3 dvd was not subtitled either (for that scene). If anyone has seen the movie and knows what it is saying, please let us know.

Want to add that this is one of the older HD transfers as it looks pretty much like the one on Apple's streaming platform that I picked several years ago. And, on a side-note: I think I would have rather had additional interviews with Shaw stars instead of 2 CD`s worth of music. But, I will "review" (give my opinion of) all that once I am done posting screenshots.

I see mine is currently listed on my shipping tracker account, but there has been zero movement, just a placeholder. Asking this now because I am seriously considering cancelling today in exchange for what I see as an opportunity to save substantial $$$ by waiting to place another order for it in the next month or so. Seems like waiting is all I am doing anyway, might as well save then.
LMN.
I received mine today. Pre-ordered from Target.

I messaged Arrow asking them to just cancel my order if it's not shipping this week and I'll just buy it domestically for much cheaper. Maybe it's because this is one of few releases that I actually planned on viewing very soon after getting it, but I've been particularly annoyed by the delay. People ordering it now for much cheaper and already watching and enjoying it hasn't helped that feeling. Nor has the fact that this was part of the 'lost' orders when they made the site switch in the Summer.

Watched King Boxer and The Boxer From Shantung tonight. Transfers for both were top-notch, and they seemed loaded with extras.

Okay, is it just me, or is the transfer for 5 Venoms no better than the Dragon Dynasty blu-ray from ten years ago, or so? I also used to have an import blu-ray of Crippled Avengers, and THAT transfer doesn't seem any better either. Anyone feel the same way?

5 Venoms is definetly better - contrast, gamma, colour, sound - on the Arrow. Crippled Avengers does seem more faded then the older transfer.

I am disappointed DD opted to ship it to me as it is with just the custom Arrow box and without an outer box. Two of the corners were slightly crushed. Could have been a lot worst, I guess.

I ordered from the UK. Arrow says they shipped it on December 14th but it hasn't arrived yet.

Bahaha what a jerk. "I didn't get anything wrong... Ok I got stuff wrong but none of it matters! And you suck for telling my boss!"

Honestly not surprised, given it's Arrow.

Guess that explains why it wasn't translated. And, here I was thinking that there was, perhaps, a back story, or some cool info, regarding/on/about the southern Shaolin Temple that I had been missing out on.

I could certainly understand both sides of the coin in this situation; but, getting the US name of a movie wrong could be problematic. Though I haven't listened to the complete commentary yet, this is no way shape or form Ric Meyers wrong, right?

Every commentator pulls a few boners. I love Mike Leeder's commentaries but I was groaning every time he confused Kam Kong with Lee Man-tai on the Spiritual Kung Fu commentary. Kam Kong must be two foot taller!

Ric Meyers probably KNEW his stuff, but gives the impression he last did research in the 80s, then relies on memory.

Got mine today. I haven’t opened it but I hope there’s no issues with the discs. It’s gonna be some time before I finish this set, so I hope there’s no issues with playback either.

They went all out with the special features. Glad they included one of the Cinema Hong Kong mini-doc. I wonder if they’ll include the last 2 in the next volume. I think the other 2 involve the props/costumes and the other is for the women. Also glad they included English dubs (which is one of the best things about Fu flicks) and both versions on Chinatown Kid.

Some of the use of quotes from questionable sources is pretty annoying, do I care about a quote from somebody from this or that modern magazine or blog? Or from someone associated with Quentin Tarantino, who cares?! They should be getting quotes from people actually involved in the era and the productions, people who have perspective on the films. Also some of the opinions are simply incorrect

Watched Shaolin Temple today (it was okay), and Mighty Peking Man, which may be my new favorite cheesy King Kong ripoff.
