With 7 turnovers, you should expect to loose. When BYU has executed this year, they are great. Sadly, they have not been able to play consistent. Last nights game was just horrible. It will be interesting to see how to do against your team. Especially since it is a short week with the game on Friday.

Was more than a little worried when FSU tied it up. That stadium seemed pretty psychotic. Landry, Broyles, etc. stepped up and got it done just like a top team is supposed to. (see explanation abv.)

I'm guessing this is Mario Cristobal's last year at Florida International. He took over a team coming off an 0-12 season and got the school to their first ever winning record and conference championship in his fourth year and has them 3-0 this year with wins at Louisville and against Central Florida. They should be favored in every game the rest of the season so it's not out of the question they could finish with double-digit wins. I've got to think he'll be an attractive candidate to many teams this offseason. He's only 40 and has a great recruiting background in Florida as an assistant at Miami and in his current job.

Despite the constant rumors that various quarterback-needy NFL teams had inquired about Brett Favre's services in the days and weeks leading up to the season, the ol' gunslinger remains retired. But that doesn't mean he's done with football.

In June, Favre said that he liked working with young players, "but in what capacity, I'm not really sure yet. … [I don't have any] plans right now and we'll see where that takes me."

Well, now we (sorta) know: he'll serve as a color commentator for his alma mater, Southern Miss, in their October 1 game against Rice.

In a school press release (via College Football Talk), Favre said, “I’m excited to be back at Southern Miss with the Golden Eagles. I’m not committing to a new career in broadcasting, but just wanted to support Southern Miss and check out the view from the press box. It should be fun and I hope the fans enjoy it.”

We give Favre credit for stating upfront that this is a temporary gig, though we don't suspect that will slow the speculation concerning any of his future plans.

“This is a great opportunity for Southern Miss to welcome back one of its favorite sons,” said Southern Miss president Dr. Martha D. Saunders. “Brett is a popular guy at our university. I know our students and alumni will enjoy having him associated with this game… exclusively on CSS.”

Favre's popularity can't be understated. Yahoo.com's Doug Farrar points out that in Favre's first year there, "Southern Miss went 10-2 and beat Texas-El Paso in the Independence Bowl, and after a disappointing 1989 campaign, the team came back for an 8-4 record in 1990 and a trip to the All-American Bowl, where they lost to North Carolina State."

In related Mississippi football news, Favre's cousin, Dylan Favre, is a quarterback at Mississippi State.

Until Cristobal took over I think the only thing FIU football was known for was the infamous brawl/mini-riot with the Canes.

I personally think he will be the next Georgia head coach. He's a good young coach, but there is a big difference between Florida International and a top tier program.

I wonder how safe Mark Richt really is at Georgia. Through 2008 his record there was a solid 82-22 with 6 bowl wins in 8 seasons. Since then Georgia has been a mediocre 15-14 and off to a 1-2 start this season. If Georgia finishes with another crappy 6 or 7 win season I imagine he'll be on the hot seat.

Well, he's on the hot seat already and has been since last year. Fans were ready to string him up after the opening loss to Boise State, but calmed down a bit after the near-win against South Carolina. He deserves some slack this year; I can't think of any other team in the country that opened with two top 12 teams.

The team is young and I think if he gets 8 wins and a bowl victory his job is safe. If not, I think he's gone.

I love the guy and even though I blow a lid during games we lose that we should win, I'd rather have Mark Richt on the sideline than almost anybody else because he's such a good man.

Don't know much about the FIU guy, but I cannot imagine Georgia fans/boosters being excited about someone from that school coming to coach almight Georgia (sarcasm intended even though I believe it's almighty). If Richt goes, fans will be crying for Kirby Smart (DC from Alabama, former UGA safety after Muschamp graduated).

Speaking of disappointments what's going on with Ole Miss? They're 1-2 after losing to SEC doormat Vandy in a blowout. And right now they're losing badly to Georgia 24-13 at halftime in a home game.
