Same for the last 2 Avengers movies. When Cap caught Mjolnir in Endgame the audience erupted in cheers, me included. It became a communal bonding experience. Which in general I'm not a fan of, but at the movies I think it becomes something special. It's funny you mention people in the UK being different. I don't consider myself a loud, rude American (though some here may disagree ![]() ![]() |

You should really watch some of their "panel shows" specifically one called WOULD I LIE TO YOU? In addition to being hilarious and highly entertaining, the most striking difference is how absolutely disinterested anyone is in "winning". I mean, they keep "score" and a winner is announced... but it is completely arbitrary and has no basis in the "competition" that preceeds it. It is almost tacked on at the end as a kind of "wink" to cultures that seem so obsessed with "being the best" that they go to ridiculous, self harming lengths to achieve this ultimately meaningless end. From a media standpoint, I remember that my first viewing of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK was in a very grand theater in London with a balcony. I remember freaking out that, when I was a kid, they only had 4 TV channels and that the TV had buttons with their names printed right on them from the manufacturer - BBC 1,2,3 and ITV..... and the some of the channels didn't begin broadcasting until noon!!! LOL... ...but I was also introduced to HAMMER HOUSE OF HORROR, MONTY PYTHON and the birthplace of Indian cuisine.. ![]() |

![]() I have been several times following my football club and enjoyed the weekend each time, but I was so relieved to be home as the pace of life there is just too frantic. There were beggars everywhere and it was an ordeal just crossing the road with so many lanes and turn offs. I much prefer my home (Sunderland) |

Scotland? Yeah, we are quite close to Scotland, I think it was you I was discussing our visit to Chillingham castle with? My memory is dreadful lately. Anyway, the castle was very strategic in the England-Scotland border wars. |

For example, When I went to see Avengers: Infinity War, When Spider-man [Show spoiler] . These reactions felt legitimate and warranted.Like Ender 14 said, I also went to see Avengers Endgame twice in theaters. Both times when [Show spoiler] , the audience went nuts. The first time, people were cheering and applauding and once again felt legitimate. The second time we saw it, people were going nuts, one guy literally threw his popcorn bucket up in the air covering quite a few people and it felt totally forced and planned. The worst part, both times [Show spoiler] were ruined and inaudible due to the reactions, and it's a genuinely good/pivital line.So I do think there is legitimate emotion, especially for films like this, where people have spent 10-15 years loving and living with these characters, but at the same time, I think people are doing it for laughs and probably filming it for Tiktok. Hopefully no one does any of that when I see Killers of the Flower Moon tonight! |

Gasping, crying, laughing are legitimate responses in that they are instinctive and natural, and audience laughter makes any comedy better. You absolute can control cheering and I would just be annoyed by that because it drowns out the film's audio. This is evidenced by it not happening in the UK.
https://twitter.com/ponysmasher/stat...407805954?s=20 Different topic, but has anyone seen this? As has been said many times, with streamed or digitally bought copies, you can't control what the version is or even the quality. There is no guarantee what you originally get is what stays. |

Well you guys are saying Disk still has some Life, but Best Buy has added one more nail. I still think that Streaming Quality is up there with Disk if you have the right setup. IMO Disk Quality is very dependent on your equipment and setup, with Projection at the top and then a 65" Hisense, LG, Samsung, or Sony. Any other brand is just not in the Shootout Brand and Quality!

At 4% Best Buy was not even a straight pin, much less a nail. 4% is a small fraction of the 45% that Walmart does, BB should have dumped out long ago.
Best Buy, Target and Walmart all dumped EST but EST is still here. The same will be for disc. |

Seeing that Wal-Mart practically has half of it locked in is impressive. I don't have any Wal marts nearby myself, so if I have to buy from them it will be online. BB had been coming in clutch. Snagged a handful of titles the last month or so. Now GRUV is killing it. My copy of Meg 2 4K should be here tomorrow. That doesn't street until next week, so GRUV is doing their own thing. I mean it helps that GRUV is also owned by Universal. I have a bunch of titles coming in the few weeks from GRUV. |

Warner bros seems to be fazing out blu ray with its 4k releases. Pretty annoying along with them expiring digital copies. Our projector isn't set up to do 4k so that actually seriously devalues wb titles for me.
Really kind of a weird 100 year celebration releasing bear bones releases cutting features to save a buck. I wonder if they are having trouble financially moving away from standard features so quickly on whats supposed to be premium products and anniversary celebration products to. |

Physical stores should be getting a better rate then warehouses as they are basically also these companies advertising arm. Personally I don't think I would wanna sell physical media if I was best buy either when they are pushing the films onto streaming and vod the same day or even months before the physical releases. We saw theaters go ballistic over way less. |
