Gojira stepped on my copy of Gojira. The spine is "creased," because Amazon Canada used a bubble mailer. I'm not too upset unless the disc itself is damged. Once I finish watching Mr. Buddwing, it's going in the machine.

Does anyone know if they are offering replacement discs for Carlos yet?

That really sucks. I love criterion's unique packaging but it's a rare digipak that doesn't come through the mail with battle wounds.

Was it shipped via can post or UPS?

That is bad! Amazon always ship to me in a cardboard

Wasnt there at least one person having troubles with their order at Barnes and Noble from the last sale on the Late Ozu Eclipse set? I got mine straightened out today and thought Id share the story if anyone else is still waiting on theirs...

Hey Matt...good to see you again!

I'm glad that you're as thrilled about Wings as most others that have seen it. I'm saving it for Saturday morning while the wife and my boys are still sleeping.

DetroitSquirreL actually put together this new thread based off of other forum conversations that lays it all out: https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-pl...are-hacks.html

You will probably need to downgrade the firmware using a thumb drive. Then it's just a matter of pressing a short sequence of buttons on your remote and selecting your desired region from the unlocked region menu. The player will default back to region A when you turn it off, but that's a very small inconvenience.

Like I said before, sounds a bit complicated, but it's really quite easy, and by far the cheapest option out there.
CCFixx and I both own the Momitsu 799 and fortunately, if you leave it set for one region, you don't have to program it with the remote each time you use it. Since I have a dedicated region A player and all of my current "foreign" blus are region B...I don't have to do anything.

Yeah, paper packaging always sucks. It's just not study nor does it hold up after a few years.

Amazon.uk just made it worse, too. An order they shipped Monday (Sherlock S1&2, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Hidden) just showed up. That's pretty amazing, actually. Our Amazon doesn't get here that fast anymore.

As to that last part let me put it this way...

I cringe when people say 'The Cell', I still put the phantom N in Comiskey and I was one of the people who cheered the cops when they (finally) cleared the field at Disco Demolition.
No problems, as like I said, I usually always opt for Amazon UK and unless you have Prime, your right, they are faster than the US Amazon. Does MOC let you know when they ship, or does it just show up one fine day?

By the way, the irony in the term 'The Cell' for that park is beyond thick..

That's how my LG BH200 was. What is nice about the Insignia is that the DVD4 streams Netflix, so it allowed me to move the Roku box into the kids room for their shows. Also, I have had a few hiccups with my OPPO on some discs lately, including Three Colors 'White' which would not play in the OPPO, but worked great in the Insignia.

That's how I have my setup, with my Sony S-580 handling region A and my Insignia BRDVD-4 handling other regions (B, really). And if you put the Insignia in standby - which is what I gather most people do with their players instead of rightly shutting them off - you don't have to re-enter the code on your remote; though you still have to change regions in the menu. But like it's been said that's a minor inconvenience. I paid ~$90 for this player early last year, and that's cheap for region-free: to be able to get this for $35-50 is an absolute steal! Highly recommended.

I just picked up a new copy of Rushmore on Amazon for $26.39 shipped. Should have I waited for a lower price? Seems like a decent price I had to jump on.

Just watched Jerzy Skolimowski's "Deep End" (1970) from BFI... great film, and what a crazy ending. This is the kind of film Criterion should be releasing, IMO, instead of Godzilla and some of the other junk, but whatever. At least the BFI edition is region-free.

The streaming is a nice plus...I use my Panasonic BDT 300 for region A and it streams NetFlix as well...just wish it streamed Hulu, so that I could try out a Hulu trial membership. I've got a Wii in my bedroom which I use for NetFlix as well. I might opt to buy a Roku box for my bedroom and give the Wii to my 12 year old to use in his bedroom. Then I could float the Roku box from bedroom to living room to try out Hulu...

It's an okay price... amazon has been having a lot of Criterion sales lately, and of course the B&N sales are the best.

I'd be patient and wait for those to pop up before buying the Criterion titles.

Can Post. Not complaining much, first actual digipack damage for me to be honest. I mean, they did ship it out to me a day early, and it only took 3 days for it to arrive to NS. Chapters still takes a week or so.

I get a mix bag. Kuroneko came in a cardboard envelope, but not a cardboard box.

Yeah I know if I wait around long enough it will probably end up being $19.99 on Amazon but I really wanted it and I had Amazon Gift Certificate money to spend so I went ahead. I haven't been following the price changes too closely last I saw it was like $28.99 I think?

You can get it at best buy for 25 if you trade in a dvd. Would be about the same with tax but if you didn't want to wait for it to come. That's what I'm gonna do.
