What have you done? I'm not attacking janitors or making the midwest out to be a dump. I'm pointing out an annoying business practice and the hypocrisy of the posts of the shills who support it. If you can check that ego of yours you might realize just cause you think something is insignificant doesn't make it so. You might want to go through this circus routine bullshit with every release DF puts out. Me? Not so much.

Typical dumpster fire negativity, and as you stated if you regularly support the label because you like it instead of talking trash then you are branded a shill, real nice.

The obvious question is why haven't the people who hate dark force so much left this thread long ago? Some posters it has been a year of negative posts. Too much.

No one is forcing anyone to buy their releases or interact with this thread, so the easy solution to one's continued bother is to completely check out of this thread and not worry anymore about DF.

I want to buy the products without the carnies and circus BS.
No one is forcing me to buy these products.
On the contrary, they are doing everything to prevent it.

It should be obvious why consumers don’t abandon Dark Force. Physical media is not equivalent to a grocery store, where if the service is bad the same loaf of bread is available down the road. The phrase “world wide rights” certainly could not have escaped your attention. Forums are designed for fans to discuss what provides enjoyment and conversely, disappointment.

The same kind of thing was happening in the Scream thread about the MAP pricing. People saying not to complain and just accept it. Why wouldn't you protest it? Why would you bend over and gladly take it?

I'm sure DF will see this "campaign" a sales success. As with the SF price fixing, will this become DF's new model? I guess we'll find out with their next release.

Pretty funny to imagine that Bill is leading the high life when he's down here in LA. The dude constantly complains about his money problems, eats at low-rent chain restaurants, his apartment looks like a tornado hit it, and he's always in and out of the hospital.

On top of all that, it's been one of the chilliest and rainiest winters in LA we've had for a while.

I'm not say one can't offer constructive criticism, but when negativity is just barraged nonstop then it becomes white noise and often contradictory.

This latest complaint of stuff not shipping on time is a great example - DF said they shut down the store after 1st round SOAWN because they were overwhelmed, people were angry and complaining they couldn't get their SOAWN order in even if they were backlogged - so to satisfy those people he re-opened the store and took more orders despite the first batch not being fully shipped; and now the people he took the 2nd batch of orders from are complaining that its not shipping fast enough - can't have it both ways. Some even said Dark Force was lying and they weren't behind in shipping, well obviously they are behind in shipping.

So while it would be great if Dark Force had the cash to hire a bunch of people, assuming that doesn't happen it will simply teach Dark Force to ignore complaints for more order opportunities of in-demand titles when behind, because that will only lead to complaints that they aren't shipping fast enough.

People have to realize that at least for now Dark Force is a tiny operation, much smaller than the typical media label. So they won't be able to operate like a typical media label no matter how much one desires and complains about it, at least until they start making more money and can expand.

Replace criticism with praise and an apposite comparison remains, will you extend that standard appropriately?

Yeah...ok. Do you know that some providors only operate regionally? They are not the same person...now everyone can continue entertaining whatever conspiracy theory they fancy. This thread is mostly gibberish at this point.

As a side note, does Maghen really ever have a point? Seems to be one of the most pointless posters on the forum.

I think the reason people pointed that out is that handwriting the labels takes way more time and energy. This practice will back up your shipping especially if you want to move units. Ideally it would be a more automated process that would be more efficient for Dark Force's sake so that they can ship units out to keep customers happy and save energy on their part.

He does seem to live off of Panda Express based on the brief skim I did of his Facebook page the other day; his page is certainly odd. Did he move to Los Angeles for business reasons? I don't even know. I'm out of the loop.

All that being said, Bill is from Seattle, and "chilly and rainy" in Los Angeles is a joke compared to anywhere in the NW--so while all the other things you mentioned are probably true, I think the latter is inconsequential to him.

Of course. The main reason I've responded the way I have in this thread is because of the overwhelming uncalled for negativity, which has been going on for a year.

Dark Force doesn't deserve it, they put out solid releases and entertaining content.

But they're asking for it, the pissiness. C'mon. I'm patient/from the old school of laserdisc and vhs. 6+ month delays and $40+ prices for a bare bones release was the way it was. It was even worse in the earlier vhs days of Porky's 2 @ $89.99. Except, there weren't any forums in those days for the ocean of venting. A blessing for collectors to be heard. But it does suck when movies are barely mentioned for months straight. "Got my tracking" "Got my package" is the positive. So, why not discuss paralyzed arms, marketing trickery and under handedness.
Or that hideous David DeFalco in the LA morgue footage featured on the old unrated Chaos dvd. "Homiciiide" "Suiciiide". I'm still offended. Thank god he didn't try to 1-up that on the bluray.
