What I wish I could know is if it is safe to order Carlos now. I want a copy of it but I will buy from Amazon as Criterion doesn´t ships to Mexico. I just don't want a "bad" disc but who knows if I will get a corrected one. I am having a really hard time with this .

Default Drop It At The Door

when did this thread turn into The View?

Everyone has s**t to deal with and this is supposedly an escape from said s**t to discuss Criterion Films and how we feel about them, hopefully in a reasonably rational fashion, not listen to people b*tch, kvetch & whine about the b.s. they call a life.
Drop It At The Door.

the self comparison between Gojira and King Of Monsters was hilarious and certainly reflected each countries view at the time.
actually a great deal : A serious anti nuclear film and popcorn monster movie on one disc. Life Am Good.

Edit:
Hilarious in the way that the US Studio Monstered up a serious film.

Got my first "real" Criterion today: Videodrome.

I'm planning on also getting 12 Angry Men, Gojira, and Robinson Crusoe on Mars.

Amazon will probably have the first pressing for the foreseeable future. When it comes to re-issues of titles that weren't recalled, they tend to have the older releases for a mighty long time. Especially for less mainstream, non-Hollywood films that aren't huge sellers. Last I heard that were still sending out the original pressing of Let the Right One In, not the one with the theatrical subs. And that issue was handled years ago.

If I buy the current version of it and ship the disc back to Criterion, do you think they might ship outside of the US for this kind of thing?

I've had Videodrome in my cart a couple of times now, but ended up with something else.

I've got the Criterion DVD, so I've been hesitant with upgrading it.

I love the movie, and I will definately get that blu sometime.

I emailed Jon Mulvaney before Christmas regarding both Three Colors White and Carlos and got a reply saying they were still waiting on the Carlos disc.
I haven't emailed again, but probably will soon.
Have you tried emailing him yourself?
He's been pretty prompt with his replies to me.

I'd say you probably have to contact both Criterion and Amazon to make sure about this...
Jon Mulvaney said in his email to me that it was no problem to send a replacement disc to me in Australia, so I'm sure you would be fine as well.

Thanks for the info. I tried emailing him a while back, but got no reply. Figured I'd try asking here before emailing again.

Thing is, I want to send in White and Carlos together, so I'm holding out on the Carlos replacement discs before I send them in.

Yup, this is exactly what I'm going to do.
I'll post here if I hear from him again and when I eventually send back both discs.
Has anyone else sent back either disc and received a replacement?

Well, that sounds great! Carlos is now on the top of my buy-list (It was there in the first place until I knew about the problem ). Amazon has it at great price too (I know, I know, $29 is still some cash but I seriously don't care when it comes to films I really want ). I am all set then, Carlos and The 400 Blows will be the next ones .

Yep. I'm surprised everyone keeps missing this and getting upset Criterion doesn't respond to their CARLOS emails.

Hence me making my LOLCat comment. The Wacky C, it's got a cult like following similar to a certain electronics company.

There's two other editions: the Canadian and the UK.
The Canadian one is reviewed at the other site and apparently stuffs all three parts onto one disc.
The UK one is reviewed here by Pro-B. It has all three parts on two discs and it has the so-called theatrical version on the third disc.
I used to own the UK edition, but I sold it to a friend and bought the Criterion. I wanted the extras on the Criterion and the theatrical version is a waste of time.
With the exception of the problem on the Criterion version during the third part, the Criterion and UK editions are of the same quality.

Hey guys...I have a quick question for those of you that use a region free player. Which player do you use and how do you like it overall?

I'm looking to replace my PS3 as my main movie player since it is making weird noises...

And on a Criterion note...I was able to watch the entirety of Fanny and Alexander's TV version last week, spread out over 6 nights, and holy crap it was amazing. I had read very little about it, plot-wise, before popping it in, and I do remember people saying the 1st hour and a half (part 1) was a little slow. While true, it was able to hold my attention as I enjoyed seeing all of the main characters and their introductions and interactions within the rather large Ekdahl family.

The rest of the episodes were even better as the plot picked up and you really get into the meat of the story. And yes, I'm being very vague just in case some have not yet seen it...

The other night, I finally decided to watch The Last Metro, probably my longest holdover from when I actually bought it and finally watched it. I liked it a lot...much more than I thought I would. I don't hear it talked about much, however, I do realize it was released within the first year or so of the CC blu output.

How do others on here like Metro??
