For the past two weeks, I've noticed the Energy RC-LCR on sale from this seller for $299 one day of the week. Sign up for the "deal of the day" to be notified when it drops in price.

Really up to you. I would pick the 667 if ahd to choose between the 2. using 80hz X-over is not a shame it's a THX certification so global X-over is not bad at all I was using 80 hz all around with my Energy speakers. plus the GUI is a bit more friendly, it has preouts, may output a tiny bit less in multichannel but should be fine and will outperform what you already have.

On this note good nite
I have RC50 and it rocks with Marantz 5005. I have auditioned Denon 1911 with other set of speakers. /in music none of them could detail as much as Marantz 5005 did with RC50. Marantz is truly musical. Although i liked 1911 for movies very much.

I have the 667 and am awaiting my new RC-50s.

I just wanted to confirm, since I will be using a BIC F12 subwoofer, will I set my speakers to small or large? I am thinking small.

I really can not wait to get these speakers. Reading all these positive posts makes it so exciting. I can not believe I got these for $550 a pair. I hope they sound much better than the price would suggest.

My VTI stands should be here tomorrow. What do you guys think about filling these stands with some pea gravel or other small rocks? I have purchased plenty of that here for a rock walk way I made out front. It's something that is readily available here so I'm thinking of using that to weigh the stands down if I need to.

Yea, someone else posted that a while back, right after MaCruz and I purchased ours for 370, just a few days later they ran that sale for 299. We were heart broken.

Op' s budget was around 450-500 but he wanted to buy new, Callas and I recomended the Marantz but he had to choose between the 1911 and the Yammy RXV-667, we recomended the 667 in this case for it's flexibility with it's preouts, it has more advance GUI and sounds more natural than Denon in my book maybe more musical, rated 90wpc is not all channels driven, it's more like a 42wpc.

Callas and I like the 5005 since it dirves more power and sounds more musical and to me it's a must if I have a multifuctional setup, not that it matters much now that I will use separates.

Default Marantz SR5005

For those who are interested in the Marantz SR5005, onecall.com is selling an open box unit for $600 shipped. Maybe you can even call them and negotiate a lower price.

I think he is going to be forced to x-over the fronts at 80Hz, like me. The 667 and the much more expensive 867 don't have individual x-overs just a global with the default setting at 80Hz.

Haha. I kind of miss my SR5002 that I had, but my TV's won't recognize the connection via HDMI, or even component cables. I guess that's what I get for buying refurbished.

Hey Mike, I went to the office last Friday to fill out some paper work so any day now. They still have to go up the chain of command so to speak and get approvals. They are not following the usual procedures for hiring in my case. They are working backwards, so I've been told, and that's why it's taking so long.

that would depend on his center and surrounds frequency response, if they sit below 55 hz, then he could go to 60, but that is a shame that Yamaha uses a universal crossover.

The stands are very good quality, very solid and sturdy. Well worth the money for these. Thanks to all who suggested them. I'll let you know when I take pics and upload to the gallery. I'm experimenting with their position right now.

My RC-50s should be arriving tomorrow and I am freaking excited. I am hosting a poker game this friday night and want to introduce my new speakers to my friends. My question is about break in. I want to leave the speakers on for a few days, but I have a roommate and I don't want him to think I am weird by having the speakers on when I am not home. I guess I could just tell him I need to break in these speakers.

The question is, would it still beneficial to have the speakers on at even low volumes for the break in process? I know the recommended hours is 100 for typical energy speakers from what i've learned and read on this forum. How does the sound improve after say 10-20 hours?

I think after 20 hours you will feel the bass driver open up a bit slowly but it will be signiicant from the first time you put them towork. After 50 hours they will sound close to what you will actually have after 100 hours but they will keep loosen up until you can push them really hard.

I know another trick that will accelerate the process, you just put the speakers really close to each other face to face let's say 3-4 inches and you plug one of them backwards so you have a push and pull effect, that way the driver will work a bit more without forcing it and will speed up the process.
