Eh, probably not so much. Not among mainstream critics, anyway. As you move farther from the LA Times and closer to foaming@themouth.com (I have no idea if that's a real thing or not, I'm just saying) more and more attention will be paid to all the various 'controversies' but for the most part I think it will be a non-issue.

Very true. I also think some (not all) are letting their personal feelings about the film and character presentations get in the way of judging whether it'll actually be a good movie or not.

I've seen some predictions that the film will end up in the 20s or 30s or Rotten Tomatoes. While it could happen, I seriously doubt it will.

Yep...and WWZ actually received fairly good reviews from critics; not glowing by any means; but not the disaster some were expecting.

I'd be interested to see a list of all the movies where reviews were embargoed until release day. I bet there's got to be a few in there that i really like.

This whole thread makes me wonder how much lying will be going on after it's released. People defending it now saying they liked it even though they secretly know it sucked just to stand their ground and vice versa. It's gonna be a fun read for sure.

Is anyone defending the quality of the film? The most I've seen in this thread is "give it a chance". Conversely, there are many people who have said they won't give it a chance and know it's going to suck.

I defended this pre-release but will be totally honest if the film sucks after release date.

Exactly, I'm just against people studying every ounce of pomotional material with a fine-tooth comb and blasting the film from rumour and here say without seeing the context of the film, seeing the comments the film might be trying to make and the ideas behind because it's not the comic book interpretation.

If the film blows, I'll be the first to say. But the film is okay I'll be happy.

I have read the over the top IT WILL SUCK from people. I for one am looking forward to seeing this. I hope that people will give it a chance. However after reading the Poltergeist remake thread it seam's people have already made up their mind to hate this just the Poltergeist remake which was a decent film.

I'm still giving this movie a chance because it looks like it might be a decent sci-fi film overall, but over at another forum were they have been going over the production since the beginning with as you put it, a fine-tooth comb. Everything I've read from over there, interviews they posted and a number of other things, it's not "rumour" or "here say" that this film was quickly slapped together by Fox as a rights grab since the contract with Marvel was about to end. Also the promotion for this film has been shit, ie: Fox not wanting to dump proper promotional money on this specific project and then you have the confirmed extensive reshoots and from Kinberg himself he's been saving the movie in the editing room. Those are just a few things.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping this film is good but Fox did a rush job on it and it will probably show.
