Not a chance. The break-up pretty much ruined any chance of the stern becoming its own watertight type lifeboat. There's no way the bulkheads or watertight doors could do anything against keeping out the open ocean.

The air that was still inside the stern caused massive implosions once it went 300 feet or so below the surface. What's crazy is that only took 5 to 10 minutes for the ship to hit the bottom of the ocean.

One thing I forgot to mention, and I know this has nothing to do with the 4K release, but I wish everyone (not anyone here) would stop saying Titanic was marketed as 'unsinkable'. White Star never made such claims. That particular topic was brought up by Shipbuilder Magazine due to Titanic's watertight doors and other safety features H&WSL wanted to publicize. Olympic and Britannic were redone after Titanic's sinking. Olympic ended up becoming the final girl out of the class.

Same for the morons that believe the insanely deranged switch and 'fire did it, not an iceberg' conspiracies. They're the ones that probably believe the Earth is flat.

Ship is sinking… as I type this. Personally, I’ve enjoyed this transfer. Had the discourse on these forums not been so intense I don’t think I would have been looking for anything, but overall I think this is quite nice.

Research has found that a fire broke out during in the coal bunkers, very close to the spot where the ship struck the iceberg. The fire had weakened parts of the starboard side hull. This is before the ship even left Belfast and was likely an accident during Titanic's construction that got overlooked.

True. There was fire in a cual bunker since the ship left Belfast for Southampton, but it had pretty much no effect during the sinking.

Hey, does the non US editions 4K include the 20th century studios logo in the opening? Or it’s the 1997 20th Century Fox logo?

The research says it weakened the hull at the spot where the iceberg struck. So, it contributed to the hull splitting open so easily. If the hull hadn't been weakened by fire, it may have been possible for the damage to have been less. Maybe a smaller opening that they could have tried to plug or the water would've entered at a slower speed, buying them more time, who knows. This is just me hypothesising.

As far as I know, it includes the Paramount Logo only. I prefer the 20th century logo and that fanfare.

It shows in your photo of the back of it that the aspect ratio on the Blu-ray includes 1.78:1, 16:9. Is that the open matte presentation?

If anyone for fun wanna compare the color timing and framing of the 35mm vs home media, found a scan from a 35mm print.

Damn, should've waited for the UK version to get free 1080p Bluray edition (is it new or old 2012 bluray?)

Hmm. Must be from 35mm film cells then. I have quite a few of those saved in my PC as well.
