Not sure I agree with that. I'm not entirely sure why but People on Sunday would probably be my goto title if I wanted to win over somebody who was skeptical of or unfamiliar with silents.

It's very charming, very engaging and very, very, very accessible.

Oh, maybe I do know why

I saw Hoop Dreams when I was very young (maybe 10) and loved it.

When I saw the basketball in my newsletter, it made me really happy. It's truly one of the greatest documentaries I've ever seen.

Well, some people at the Criterion FB page are saying this definitely is NOT Hoop Dreams. At first I wasn't so sure but then someone mentioned every hint related to a BD upgrade has the color blue in it. Have never thought about that until now . Don't know what to expect now. Finally an uncertain Newsletter clue! The first one to prove more difficult in a long time of blatantly obvious ones.

actually yeah. Swimming to Cambodia might be it. Johnathan Demme has a relationship with Criterion.

That makes sense . Very Clever. Swimming to Cambodia is guess. Unless they are doing a set of his films including Monster in a Box and Soderberg's Gray's Anatomy.

Hoop Dreams was filmed on video so I can't see how an upgrade is necessary. I imagine it's something else.

I agree, as that makes sense since basketballs are generally orange, not gray. Probably Swimming to Cambodia, as that is a Demme film who is already in the collection with Something Wild.

Yep, Betacam SP was around 340 lines of resolution, I think.

Side question - any of you insiders think there's a chance Criterion would strike a deal with Amazon's streaming service in the future?
