This movie is more grounded than the Roger Corman one...therefore it is good.

Too bad Marvel can't use Doom in their movies since everyone seems to now be whining that they don't have interesting bad guys in their films.

Quite a lot of these really I enjoyed a hell of a lot (over half) and have in my blu ray collection, although I'd never defend them as great films of the class a high tier Marvel family film should be.

Also the promotion for this film has been shit, ie: Fox not wanting to dump proper promotional money on this specific project and then you have the confirmed extensive reshoots and from Kinberg himself he's been saving the movie in the editing room. Those are just a few things.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping this film is good but Fox did a rush job on it and it will probably show.
Yeah I'm nearly the same. I'd give it a go as a sci fi film. But it will still be a bit hard to disassociate from the source. A reimagining, I guess in the same vein as I initially saw Battlestar Galactica. Although as that went along it sort of felt like it related more.

I don't know why Fox would waste money just to make a movie before they lose the rights. Atleast try to promote it well so it can make money.

Wondering why Premium Rush chose to not get reviewed - they must have thought no one was actually ready for a bike movie after Kevin Bacon's Quicksilver. Awesome movie though!

Did Hansel and Gretel really get all those bad reviews? I loved it and I thought it was well-received. I dont remember people calling it another Van Helsing (which I loved too).

Hansel and Gretel was f-ing amazing as a cheeseball movie. Premium Rush was nowhere near a bad movie either. The rest of those movies are just painful......I have little hope for FF now

Especially for a property that most people don't seem all that interested or invested in anymore.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I thought Hansel and Gretel was goofy fun, and Premium Rush was entertaining enough. I've seen most of the other ones and they're all utter crapfests. I want to think there's a good film hiding behind all these dark omens, but it's getting harder and harder to muster up any optimism by now.

Was Chronicle reviewed last minute too? I thought that movie was kept secret as long as possible?

It's hard to believe that a recent superhero movie nowadays would not be properly made. At what point do the producers realize they made a mistake? When they see a test screening themselves and realize they should have hired a better director or writer?

One would assume that the screenplay is the final way of seeing that the movie will succeed or not. It's not the director's fault if he follows the screenplay unless he's some shaky-cam hack.

For all the bad superhero movies, the problem usually wasnt the visuals or the actors - always the screenplay! There could have been a good Catwoman movie starring Berry and Stone but the screenplay was awful. Same goes for Elektra - nothing wrong with the direction...just awful screenplay.

I'm just gonna play devil's advocate and say a ton of films that don't have late embargoes also get terrible reviews, I don't think it's the film's quality that dictates embargoes, more the general attitude towards the film.

Like, someone's mentioned Atlas Shrugged as being enbargoed, no one actively likes Atlas Shrugged anyway.

The Thing special effects look awful on a latest tv spot I just watched. Looks like claymation. Hopefully it looks better in the final version.

I saw an international trailer a few days ago and they showed Thing speaking briefly, sounded like Jamie Bell with no modifications whatsoever...very off putting.
