Probably because of this...

Conference records in BCS Title Games:

SEC: 7 Wins 0 Losses
Big 12: 2 Wins 5 Losses

And head to head in national championship games the Big 12 is 0-3 vs. the SEC.

Though there should be an asterisk by that stat.

Well, that argument fails. Georgia started as #1 three years ago, won its first 4 games, and dropped nearly each week despite its wins. It ultimately had a disappointing season and ended like #13 (including losses to the champion, Florida). But the supposed, internet-created "SEC favortism" excuse didn't save Georgia.

LSU's resume is so superior to Oklahoma's so far it's not even funny. As I said last week, though, if Oklahoma can make it through its season undefeated, it'll certainly deserve an argument for a number 1 ranking if there are other undefeated teams. But not right now.

Sure, I get it. I'm not remotely arguing the SEC hasn't been the best conference for years.

But it's precisely that fact that makes it surprising that the Big 12 has any rankings putting them ahead of the SEC. The SEC being passed had not happened on Sagarin's rankings for ~6 years (which is why I picked that one).

This doesn't make my argument "fail".

Pre-season rankings don't mean a thing to me.

Georgia started the "real" rankings at #2. They dropped to #3 after a weak win against a mediocre South Carolina team. That's the exact type of win that I said would make me understand dropping Oklahoma in the rankings.

The rankers knew what LSU's schedule was. If they thought that that schedule would matter, then they should have ranked LSU ahead of Oklahoma to start the year.

I think you are somehow interpreting this as an attack on the SEC. It's not. It's an attack on the absurdity of "voting" for a college football winner.

Michael Stoops fired at Arizona, I feel bad for him, I wonder if he will come back to the Sooners or look elsewhere?

The name of the game is winning. He was given plenty of time, but he wasn't delivering. It's a cruel sport sometimes, but such is life from time to time.

Unfortanely, you are right, Michael is 41-50 in 8 seasons, could been worse but I think Arizona is doing the right thing

Arizona has had just one conference title in the past 35 years. The only seasons I can recall them ever being good were a few seasons in the 90's. That's not a program I'd ever expect to be good.

South Carolina has dismissed quarterback Stephen Garcia from the team. He reportedly tested positive for marijuana and alcohol. Garcia was suspended 5 times during his time at South Carolina and following his last suspension agreed not to drink alcohol. Garcia started 4 games this season but was benched after a poor performance against Auburn.

Well they obviously want to be good, especially with big brother in Tempe being a respectable program in the PAC-12. I thought Stoops was a good hire, but he obviously wasn't getting the job done. It'll be interesting to see who they hire after the season ends.

Classy Spurrier
So is that how Spurrier rolls? Six strikes before a player gets booted? I know Garcia is a talented player on the field, but this guy should have been kicked off the team a few arrests/incidents ago.

Does anyone else think that Michigan and Michigan State might be the best game of the weekend? No one has been able to stop Denard yet, but the Spartans might be able to do it. And Michigan State has a pretty good quarterback of their own.
