Dexter: Thoughts and predictions [spoilers]

I mean I guess you could skip, but not sure why you'd want to anyway. Sure that was most of the season but a lot more happened than just that. I'm sure you won't really understand some things next season. And to not watch season 4 you'd be kinda crazy.

Just pick the seasons up on blu-ray or DVD and power through them. Watched all 4 seasons in about a month myself. Can't believe I was missing out on this show all this time!

OMG! Please tell me that she knew the whole time we just were never let on, and neither was Dexter, after all we see everything from his point-of-view!! That would be amazing, although a little far fetched maybe? What do you guys think? I swear, at times I wondered: how could she not be the slightest bit suspicious?

I dunno. I always liked Rita. I'm really upset that she's no longer cast. She always balanced things with the show, for example his time with her and the kids. I always enjoyed those parts of each episode.

I have no idea how in the hell you managed to avoid it for a year. Most news sites reported it in the title in huge print, every promo and teaser for 4 months has showed it, and I have yet to see a single article that didn't mention it lol.

I really liked her too, but at least she'll be in the first episode. Although not for good reasons. She was still naive no matter what.

Haha I don't know either but I'll take it. I don't get Showtime either any more. Might have to start it back up for season 5.

That'd be cool, but in a way I doubt she knew at all. She was always so set on him doing drugs like Paul did and didn't want to go through that again. Him being a killer would probably make her go crazy.

I was just gonna say well maybe Deb is gonna tell her who his brother is, but that's not possible now, oops lol

I believe Rita had this way of accepting Dexter's lies to the point of making him pay for them. Sort of like, "well if you're going to lie to me about it, then you're going to pay the price by having to do therapy or drug counseling. It would be crazy if Rita was just testing him a lot to see how far he would go with his lies.

Remember in season 4 when Dexter went back to his apartment to find her in his bedroom sitting on his bed staring at the chest where he kept his tools? And Dexter told her that he kept Harry's shotgun in there and didn't want the kids to see it? She basically called bullshit on him and told him he should sleep there that night.

They went to therapy and he revealed that he was afraid of loosing her if he revealed his "dark passenger" (in as few words). She then said that there was nothing he could do to make her run away. I believe she really meant that.

Theory: What if the therapy was her way of attempting to get him to reveal his secret to her, ya know, seeing how far he would go even though she already knew!? She said they would keep going even after the break-through of building the tool shed and him moving out of his "bachelor pad".

It could be interpreted or assumed by that scene at his apartment that she somewhat knew that there was a secret deeper within him that she really wanted him to confess. Ever since I saw that scene, which for some reason was one of my favorite scenes in the whole season, I've been convinced that there was something Rita wasn't telling him, like she knew or she suspected or something? It was such a powerful scene because you knew that she knew he was hiding something not of an affair or drug related nature. I think that despite the possibility of her knowing about his dark passenger, she loved Dexter and he far underestimated her loyalty.

I think that in the premiere of the 5th season we'll definitely see that stronger side of Rita to remember her by.
